The test bench and testing and measuring equipment require torque and speed measurements. Digital torque sensors have been its standard for some time now. Nowadays, the number of fieldbus based systems is rapidly increasing, as they not only have flexible applications and more accurate measurement results, but can also perform real-time measurements.
Flexible and modular
The HBM T40B and T40FM digital torque sensors can meet the requirements of the automotive industry. In addition to standard frequency and voltage output signals, the stator is also equipped with a TMC (Torque Measurement Communication) digital interface for torque signal output. In addition, these torque sensors can be upgraded and connected to the latest highly flexible TIM-EC interface module, which not only improves performance but also expands application areas. This means that it can be integrated into automation and control systems through traditional signaling and modern bus technologies such as EtherCAT.
TIM-EC is a dual channel interface module. In addition to TMC digital torque signal, the RS-422 interface can obtain the speed signal of the sensor. The following data and measurement values can be obtained through the EtherCAT bus:

The torque and speed signals can be obtained through the module's 10+2 backplane bus. Its modular design provides flexibility and is highly suitable for integration into high-level control and automation systems. All settings (such as signal conditioning) can be set through two independent units without any interference between them.
