Typical applications for measuring solar spectral irradiance include scientific meteorology, climate observation, material testing research, evaluation of solar panel efficiency, and renewable energy sources. The FieldSolar-F series all-weather spectroradiometer launched by Avantes in the Netherlands is a tool for measuring outdoor spectral characteristics.
This series of devices has two optional probe configurations, one for measuring the direct spectrum of the sun (connected to a sun tracking system through a 5-degree cosine correction probe), and the other for measuring the total solar radiation (through an all day cosine receiving probe). In addition, the spectral range can also be selected as needed.
