The load on FESTO cylinders increases or decreases too quickly, especially during rapid start-up, shutdown, and changes in operating conditions, with large temperature fluctuations, incorrect cylinder warming methods, and premature opening of insulation layers during shutdown maintenance, resulting in significant thermal stress and deformation in the cylinder and flanges.
During the machining process or after welding repair, stress was generated in the cylinder, but the cylinder was not tempered to eliminate it, resulting in significant residual stress and deformation during operation.
During installation or maintenance, due to maintenance processes and techniques, the expansion gaps of the inner cylinder, cylinder partition, partition sleeve, and steam sleeve sleeve are not suitable, or the expansion gaps of the hanging ear pressure plate are not suitable, resulting in huge expansion forces that deform the cylinder after operation.
The quality of the cylinder sealant used is poor, there are too many impurities, or the model is incorrect; If there are hard impurities particles in the cylinder sealant, it will make it difficult for the sealing surface to bond tightly.
The tightening force of FESTO cylinder bolts is insufficient or the material of the bolts is not qualified. The tightness of the cylinder joint surface is mainly achieved by the tightening force of the bolts. The thermal stress and high temperature generated during the start stop or load increase/decrease of the unit can cause stress relaxation of the bolts. If the stress is insufficient, the pre tightening force of the bolts will gradually decrease. If the bolt material of the cylinder is not good, the bolt will be stretched under the action of thermal stress and cylinder expansion force during long-term operation, resulting in plastic deformation or fracture, insufficient tightening force, and leakage of the cylinder.
The sequence of tightening cylinder bolts is incorrect. Generally, when tightening cylinder bolts, they are tightened from the middle to both sides simultaneously, that is, from the place with the largest vertical arc or the place with the largest deformation under force. This will transfer the gap at the place with the largest deformation to the free ends of the front and rear of the cylinder, and the gap gradually disappears after the maximum deformation. If it is tight from both sides to the middle, the gap will concentrate in the middle, forming a bow shaped gap on the cylinder joint surface, causing steam leakage.

According to the installation form of the cylinder components, it can be divided into detachable and fixed cylinders. According to the installation form of the cylinder, it can be divided into four types: fixed type, swing type, embedded type, and rotary cylinder.
(1) Before installing the cylinder, it should undergo a no-load test run and a pressure test at 1.5 times the maximum working pressure. After normal operation and no air leakage, it can be put into use.
(2) Before connecting the cylinder to the pipeline, it is necessary to clear the dirt inside the pipeline to prevent debris from entering the cylinder.
(3) When there is a change in load during the journey, a cylinder with sufficient output force should be used and an additional buffer device should be added.
(4) Before starting the operation of the buffer cylinder, first tighten the buffer throttle valve to the two smaller positions of the throttle, and then gradually open it until it reaches the desired buffer effect
(5) Do not use full stroke, especially when the piston rod extends, use the piston rod to collide with the cylinder head. Otherwise, it is easy to cause load concentration at the piston rod and external connection.
The installation form of the cylinder should be determined based on factors such as installation location and usage purpose. In general, a fixed cylinder is used. When continuous rotation with the working mechanism is required (such as lathes, grinders, etc.), a rotary cylinder should be selected.
