1、 Classification of fume hoods:

1. Ventilation cabinets can be classified according to their exhaust methods: upper exhaust type, lower exhaust type, and simultaneous upper and lower exhaust type.

2. Ventilation cabinets can be classified according to the air intake method: full exhaust ventilation cabinets, supplementary ventilation cabinets, and variable air volume ventilation cabinets.

3. According to production materials, fume hoods can be classified into PP fume hoods, all steel fume hoods, steel wood fume hoods, stainless steel fume hoods, etc.

4. Ventilation cabinets can be classified according to their usage status: integral lower open type, floor standing type, double-sided type, three sided glass type, tabletop type, and integrated type

5. According to different experimental requirements, it can be classified into ventilation cabinets specifically designed for radioactive experiments, synthetic experiments, and certain experiments.

2、 Usage of fume hood

Before using a fume hood, check the following aspects:

1. Is the power switch in the on position;

2. Is the power indicator light on the bottom cabinet power control panel on;

3. Is the fluorescent light switch turned on;

4. Whether the fume hood is in the exhaust state; The fume hood can only be operated when all inspection results are normal.

Correct operation mode of fume hood

1. The fully open state of the glass window is only allowed to occur during assembly, debugging of internal instruments and equipment, or cleaning of the interior space of the cabinet. This is the 'adjustment state';

2. Open the glass window to the user's elbow (half open), allowing the operator to reach into the cabinet to operate the experiment, while the chest and above are protected by the safety tempered glass of the glass window, which is the 'normal operating state';

3. Adjust the door to the bottom opening and allow the operator to leave, allowing the experimental program inside the cabinet to react or pause the experiment on its own. This is the 'standby state';

During the experiment in the fume hood, experimenters should avoid inserting their heads into the regulating door to avoid danger;

5. Avoid placing too many non essential items and equipment inside the fume hood to prevent interference with the normal flow of air and causing turbulence;

When placing experimental items and equipment in the fume hood, they should be placed about 150mm away from the inside of the regulating door to ensure smooth exhaust (ASHRAE-110)

Before leaving the fume hood after finishing work, the operator should turn off the power supply of the equipment inside the fume hood, turn off all water, electricity, and gas switches, and lower the regulating door to the bottom position before leaving;

Although the inside of the fume hood is made of imported polymer corrosion-resistant materials, proper cleaning and maintenance are necessary for long-term maintenance and extended service life. If there are any reagent or drug splashes during normal use, they should be wiped and removed immediately. Before stopping work and leaving every day, the inside should be wiped clean with water, and the deflector should be removed, cleaned, and inspected at least once every three months.

9. The cabinet below the fume hood has a ventilation function on the left side for placing reagents; The right single cabinet is a water and gas system storage cabinet, and it is strictly prohibited to place any corrosive substances.

10. Each fume hood is equipped with a circuit protection system (dual protection of thermal relay and AC contactor), and a main power circuit breaker (NFB) (with leakage protection) is installed to control and protect the fans, air valves, lamps, and sockets. The power socket only provides a 10V220A usage specification. When the total power consumption of the device exceeds 10A, a separate design is required;

11. Each fume hood is equipped with a cup groove, which is used for discharging condensate water. The experiment requires water and drainage for cleaning the cabinet, not for washing purposes (due to limited space inside the fume hood, in order to prevent water splashes from affecting the experiment and even causing danger, a separate water groove is required for special needs).
