Working Principle:
The Polymetron 9582 dissolved oxygen analyzer is based on the Clark battery principle, and the oxygen permeable membrane of the probe separates the water sample from the electrode, so there is no need to adjust the sample. Other reducing or oxidizing ions will not interfere with the measurement as they cannot pass through the breathable membrane.
Apply a constant voltage to both electrodes to maintain a constant potential for each electrode. The gold working electrode (cathode) will reduce dissolved oxygen in the water sample to hydroxide ions: O2+ 2H2O + 4e--->The 4OH oxidation reaction occurs on the surface of a large silver electrode (anode):
4Ag++ 4Br---> 4AgBr + 4e-
The above oxidation-reduction reactions generate diffusion currents, which are proportional to the concentration of dissolved oxygen. The dissolved oxygen analyzer converts the measured current into the concentration of dissolved oxygen in the water sample and displays it on the screen.
