It is very difficult to determine whether the speaker has reached the rated sound pressure level using human ears. However, severe performance failures can be detected. By regularly listening to the sound output of each horn at the local location, it is possible to identify faulty acoustic cleaning devices, which is crucial for the maintenance and inspection of the cleaning system.
We suggest that the operator manually operate each horn once a week to check if they are working properly. When the horn is working from outside the SCR reactor, the operator should be able to hear a low frequency similar to fog horn or large horn, and it is also likely to feel the resonance of sound waves when the horn is working. Verification can be carried out by placing your hand on the sonic generator of the sonic cleaner or on the isolated outer wall of the SCR reactor. These two phenomena can be used to confirm that the horn is working. Any distinguishable differences between two or more speakers should be investigated according to the steps in the troubleshooting section of this manual. The presence of short, high pitched sounds (screaming or sharp, piercing sounds) indicates that the horn is not functioning properly. There are many factors that can cause the horn to malfunction, and specific issues should be analyzed in detail.
If necessary, the sound wave generator can be inspected or maintained during boiler operation. Be sure to close and cut off the compressed air pipeline of the horn before disassembling the head cover. When inspecting or maintaining the generator, the prescribed procedures and steps should be followed. If there is concern about the positive pressure generated by the boiler system, a 1/4'NPT device should be used to spray the blowing air into the horn mouth. This will prevent high-temperature flue gas from flowing back when the generator is turned on.
