The 8000 series consists of an independent transmitter SMT, a receiver SMR for collimated mode, an SMP for diffuse proximity, an SMRR for retro reflection, and an SMPF for fiber optic cables. All of these can be adjusted for sensitivity through integrated potentiometers with cable or plug connections.

The entire series can provide 3-wire, NPN or PNP transistor outputs (with a power supply voltage of 10-30 V DC), or 2-wire SCR outputs (with a power supply voltage of 20-250 V AC), all of which offer switch options for bright or dark.
