Therefore, membrane cleaning is a crucial step in the membrane filtration process.
Generally speaking, the cleaning process for pressure ultrafiltration membrane components can be divided into physical cleaning and chemical cleaning. It can be divided into the following categories:
Backwash: The purpose of the backwash process is to remove pollutants from the membrane pores and hollow fiber membrane surfaces through backwashing with water flow, and to discharge the concentrated wastewater through a drain valve. This operation is reversed from filtration. Under a certain pressure, clean water (tap water or membrane filtered water) is made to permeate from the water producing side of the membrane module to the water inlet side of the membrane module. The pollutants and blockages that infiltrate the micropores on the inlet side are washed out. During the backwash process, the backwash water is directly discharged, and the cleaning time depends on the specific situation.
Air washing: Compressed air is introduced, and the hollow fibers sway due to the upward airflow, causing them to rub and collide with each other while washing the surface with water, thereby peeling off the pollutants attached to the walls of the hollow fibers. At this point, it is necessary to ensure that the membrane module is filled with liquid in order to exert the effect of air oscillation.
Chemical cleaning: When the system is heavily polluted, chemical reagents should be selected according to the situation of the pollutants, and the pollutants should be removed by soaking or combining with physical cleaning methods. When using acidic and alkaline agents in combination, it is necessary to rinse with clean water after completing the cleaning of the previous agent, and then proceed with the cleaning of the next agent. The flushing water is filtered using a membrane, and it is confirmed that the interior of the membrane module has reached a neutral state (pH value of)6~9)Only then can the next step of cleaning or normal use be carried out.
