Carboxen is an artificial carbon adsorbent highly modified from polymer precursors. This type of particle neither undergoes plastic deformation like resin nor produces fine particles like activated carbon. Store and transport in dry form. Carboxen, as a derivative resin, is suitable for various purification applications that remove small and large molecule impurities. Purification in both gas and liquid phases is possible. This includes removing homogeneous catalysts from active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), removing high-risk impurities (such as residual host cell proteins in monoclonal antibodies) in biochemical purification, removing heavy metals, purifying chlorides, and removing extractables and leachables. The gradient pore size of different sizes improves the thermodynamic and kinetic properties of adsorption and desorption. Boxens come in various forms, with different pore structures (varying proportions of micropores, mesopores, and macropores), specific surface area, and surface pH.
