1、 Product Usage
This instrument is mainly suitable for measuring the adhesion of organic coatings using the grid cut method. Not only suitable for laboratories, but also for construction sites under various conditions. Working principle and scope of application:

This instrument uses a certain specification of tools to cut and penetrate the coating in a grid pattern. The completed grid pattern is classified into six levels to evaluate the resistance of the coating to separation from the substrate. Technical indicators:
The spacing between multi blade cutting blades is 1+0.01mm, 2+0.01mm, and 3+0.01mm, respectively. The straightness of the tooth tip of the multi blade cutting blade is: ≯ 0.003mm ≯ 0.006mm. Multi blade cutting knife working tooth tip width: ≯ 0.05mm. Tooth spacing: 1mm/2mm/3mm. Paint film thickness: 60um/120um/120um

2、 Operation and usage methods

tryThe film must be prepared according to the regulations of ISOR1514 and ISO2808. Place the test piece on a flat plate with sufficient hardness. Hold the grid cutter handle and make the multi blade cutting blade perpendicular to the plane of the test piece. Cut with uniform pressure, balanced non vibration technique, and cutting speed of 20-50mm/S. Rotate the scale by 90 ° and repeat the above operation on the cut to form a grid pattern. Use a soft bristled brush to gently brush the two diagonals of the grid pattern 5 times backwards and 5 times forwards on the test piece. The experiment should be completed at least at three different positions on the test piece. If the test results at three different positions are different, the experiment should be repeated at more than three positions and all results should be recorded. If you need to replace the multi blade cutting knife, you can use a screwdriver to loosen the two screws on the knife body, replace it with the knife used, stick the blade edge to the handle side, and tighten the screws.

3、 Precautions

All incisions should penetrate the coating, but not too deep into the substrate. If the coating is too thick and hard to penetrate the substrate, the test is invalid, but it should be stated in the test report. In special circumstances or when there are special requirements, the tape method must be used for measurement. The tape is usually a 25mm wide semi transparent tape with a backing material of polyester film or acetate fiber. Apply the tape to the entire grid and then peel it off at the minimum angle. The result can be obtained based on the proportion of the adhesive area on the surface of the paint film. The experiment should be conducted at a temperature of 23 ± 2 ℃ and a relative humidity of 50 ± 5%.

4、 The adhesion of the grid results is classified according to the following standard levels
ISO rating: 0
ASTM grade: 5B
The edge of the incision is completely smooth, and there is no peeling off at the edges of the grid
ISO grade: 1
ASTM grade: 4B
There are small pieces of peeling at the intersection of the incision, and the actual damage within the marked area does not exceed 5%
ISO grade: 2
ASTM grade: 3B
The edges and/or intersections of the incision are peeled off, with an area greater than 5% but less than 15%
ISO grade: 3
ASTM grade: 2B
There may be partial or complete peeling along the edge of the incision, and/or partial grid cells may be completely peeled off. The area peeled off exceeds 15% but is less than 35%
ISO grade: 4
ASTM grade: 1B
Large areas of peeling off at the edge of the incision/or partial or complete peeling off of some grid areas, with an area greater than 35% but not exceeding 65% of the grid area
ISO rating: 5
ASTM grade: 0B exceeds the previous grade
