The electric fuel pump is the "heart" of the fuel supply system for electronic fuel injection engines. There are two arrangements for electric fuel pumps in the fuel supply system. One is the external installation type, where the fuel pump is connected in series with the fuel delivery pipeline outside the fuel tank; The second type is interior mounted, which means the fuel pump is installed in the fuel tank and immersed in gasoline. This makes the fuel pump easy to dissipate heat, has low working noise, and has a long service life. Therefore, it is widely used.
Working principle:
The electric fuel pump consists of three parts: the pump body, the DC motor, and the housing. Its basic working principle is that after the DC motor is powered on, it drives the rotor inside the pump housing to rotate at high speed. The cut surface at the lower end of the rotor shaft is combined with the cut surface of the inner hole of the impeller, so that when the rotor rotates, it drives the impeller to rotate in the same direction through the rotor shaft. During the high-speed rotation of the impeller, a vacuum low pressure is created at the inlet of the pump cover, and the filtered fuel is sucked in from the inlet of the pump cover. The sucked fuel is pressurized by the fuel pump impeller and enters the pump housing before being squeezed out through the outlet, providing the fuel system with a certain pressure of fuel. The structure of a DC motor includes a permanent magnet fixed on the inner wall of the pump casing, a rotor capable of generating magnetic torque when energized, and a graphite carbon brush assembly installed on the upper end of the pump casing. The carbon brush is in elastic contact with the commutator on the armature rotor, and its lead is connected to the plug-in connection electrode of the housing. The two ends outside the electric fuel pump housing are riveted with rolled edges, forming a non removable assembly.
