Combination cylinders generally refer to pneumatic hydraulic damping cylinders, pneumatic hydraulic boosting cylinders, etc. formed by combining cylinders with hydraulic cylinders. *The working medium commonly used in cylinders is compressed air, which is characterized by fast movement but difficult speed control. When the load changes significantly, it is prone to "crawling" or "self-propelled" phenomena; The working medium used by hydraulic cylinders is hydraulic oil, which is generally considered incompressible. Its characteristic is that its action is not as fast as that of cylinders, but its speed is easy to control. When the load changes greatly, appropriate measures are taken, and generally there will be no "crawling" or "self-propelled" phenomenon. Cleverly combining cylinders with hydraulic cylinders, complementing each other's strengths and weaknesses, becomes the commonly used pneumatic hydraulic damping cylinder in pneumatic systems. The working principle of the gas-liquid damping cylinder is shown in Figure 42.2-5. In fact, it is composed of a cylinder and a hydraulic cylinder connected in series, with the two pistons fixed on the same piston rod. The hydraulic cylinder does not require a pump to supply oil, as long as it is filled with oil. The inlet and outlet are equipped with hydraulic check valves, throttle valves, and oil refilling cups. When the gas is supplied to the right end of the cylinder, the cylinder overcomes the load and drives the hydraulic cylinder piston to move to the left (the left end of the cylinder exhausts). At this time, the left end of the hydraulic cylinder discharges oil, and the one-way valve closes. The oil can only flow into the right chamber and oil cup of the hydraulic cylinder through the throttle valve. If the throttle valve port is opened wider, the oil discharge from the left chamber of the hydraulic cylinder will be unobstructed, and the movement speed of the two pistons will be faster. Conversely, if the throttle valve port is closed smaller, the oil discharge from the left chamber of the hydraulic cylinder will be blocked, and the movement speed of the two pistons will. In this way, adjusting the opening size of the throttle valve can control the movement speed of the piston. It can be seen that the output force of the gas-liquid damping cylinder should be the difference between the force (thrust or tension) generated by the compressed air in the cylinder and the damping force of the oil in the hydraulic cylinder.
