ATOS plunger pump is a new type of high-efficiency pump with relatively high technological content. The following explanation will only take the axial piston pump as an example.
The ATOS plunger pump operates by utilizing the volume change generated by the reciprocating motion of a plunger parallel to the drive shaft in the plunger hole. Due to the fact that both the plunger and plunger hole are circular parts, high precision fitting can be achieved during processing, resulting in high volumetric efficiency, smooth operation, good flow uniformity, low noise, and high working pressure. However, they are sensitive to hydraulic oil pollution, have complex structures, and are expensive.
Troubleshooting of ATOS plunger pump:
Flow problem of ATOS plunger pump
(1) Insufficient inhalation volume. The reason is that there is too much resistance on the oil suction pipeline or insufficient oil replenishment. If the pump speed is too high, the liquid level in the fuel tank is too low, the inlet pipe leaks, the oil filter is clogged, etc.
(2) Excessive leakage. The reason is that the clearance of the pump is too large and the seal is poor. If the oil distribution plate is scratched by metal fragments, iron filings, etc., and the end face leaks oil; The sealing surface of the one-way valve in the variable mechanism is not well matched, and there are sand holes or scratches on the supporting surfaces of the pump body and oil distribution plate. The damaged part of the pump can be identified by checking for foreign objects mixed in the hydraulic oil inside the pump body.
(3) The tilt angle of the inclined plate is too small, resulting in a low pump displacement. This requires adjusting the variable piston to increase the tilt angle of the inclined plate.
The oil discharge volume is not zero when in the middle position
The zero inclination angle of the inclined plate of the variable displacement axial piston pump is called the neutral position, and the output flow rate of the pump should be zero at this time. But sometimes there may be a phenomenon where the median deviates from the midpoint of the adjustment mechanism, and there is still flow output at the midpoint. The reason is that the position of the controller deviates, becomes loose or damaged, and needs to be reset, tightened or replaced. Insufficient angle maintenance force of the pump and wear of the tilt angle ear shaft can also cause this phenomenon.
ATOS plunger pump output flow fluctuation
The fluctuation of output flow rate of ATOS plunger pump is related to many factors. The variable displacement pump can be considered to be caused by poor control of the variable mechanism, such as foreign objects entering the variable mechanism and leaving step marks, wear marks, scratches, etc. on the control piston, resulting in unstable movement of the control piston. Due to insufficient amplifier energy or component damage, as well as poor damping performance of control pistons containing springs, unstable control piston movement can occur. Unstable traffic is often accompanied by pressure fluctuations. This type of malfunction usually requires disassembling the hydraulic pump, replacing damaged parts, increasing damping, improving spring stiffness, and controlling pressure.
Abnormal output pressure of ATOS plunger pump
The output pressure of ATOS plunger pump is determined by the load and is approximately proportional to the input torque. There are two types of faults for abnormal output pressure.
(1) Output pressure too low
When the pump is in a self-priming state, if there is air leakage in the inlet pipeline or significant leakage in the hydraulic cylinder, one-way valve, directional valve, etc. in the system, the pressure will not rise. This requires identifying the leak, tightening and replacing the seal to increase the pressure. The overflow valve has a malfunction or the pressure adjustment is low, and the system pressure cannot be increased. The pressure should be readjusted or the overflow valve should be repaired. If there is a deviation between the cylinder body and the distribution plate of the hydraulic pump, causing a large amount of leakage, and in severe cases, the cylinder body may break, then the mating surface should be re ground or the hydraulic pump should be replaced.
(2) Output pressure too high
If the circuit load continues to rise and the pump pressure also continues to rise, it is considered normal. If the load is constant and the pressure of the pump exceeds the required pressure value for the load, hydraulic components other than the pump, such as directional valves, pressure valves, transmission devices, and return oil pipelines, should be checked. If the maximum pressure is too high, the relief valve should be adjusted.
Vibration and noise of ATOS plunger pump
The vibration and noise of ATOS plunger pump occur simultaneously. They not only pose a threat to machine operators, but also pollute the environment.
(1) Mechanical vibration and noise
If the pump shaft and motor shaft are not concentric or stuck, the bearings and couplings of the rotating shaft are damaged, the elastic pad is damaged, and the assembly bolts are loose, noise will be generated. For pumps that operate at high speeds or transmit large amounts of energy, regular inspections should be conducted to record the amplitude, frequency, and noise of each component. When the rotational frequency of the pump is the same as the natural frequency of the pressure valve, resonance will occur, and the pump speed can be changed to eliminate resonance.
(2) Noise generated by liquid flow in pipelines
Noise can be generated by a narrow oil inlet pipeline, insufficient or blocked flow capacity of the oil inlet filter, air intake into the oil inlet pipe, high oil leakage, low oil level, insufficient oil absorption, and liquid hammer in high-pressure pipelines. Therefore, it is necessary to design the fuel tank correctly and select the oil filter, oil pipe, and directional valve correctly.

The Italian ATOS Atos plunger pump is a type of reciprocating pump, belonging to the volumetric pump. Its plunger is driven by the eccentric rotation of the pump shaft, reciprocating motion, and its suction and discharge valves are both one-way valves. When the plunger is pulled out, the pressure inside the working chamber decreases and the outlet valve closes. When the pressure is lower than the inlet pressure, the inlet valve opens and liquid enters; When the plunger is pushed inward, the working chamber pressure increases, the inlet valve closes, and when it is higher than the outlet pressure, the outlet valve opens and the liquid is discharged.
