The working principle of ATOS proportional valve is essentially to convert the input electrical signal into hydraulic energy output in proportion, and achieve precise control of the valve core position through proportional electromagnets, thereby continuously adjusting the pressure, flow rate or flow direction in the hydraulic system, and upgrading from ordinary on-off control to analog control.

The core workflow begins with the input of command signals. When the control system sends out an analog voltage or current signal, the signal is first received and power amplified by a proportional amplifier. The amplifier converts weak control signals into sufficient current to drive the electromagnet and outputs it proportionally to the proportional electromagnet on the valve. The proportional electromagnet is a key component for achieving precise control of the Atos proportional valve. Unlike ordinary DC electromagnets, the armature of ordinary electromagnets only has two positions, suction and disconnection, while the proportional electromagnet requires its output force or displacement to be proportional to the given input current value. Throughout the entire working stroke of the armature, its magnetic circuit maintains a certain air gap, which allows the electromagnetic coil to produce a suction force on the armature within a range of moderate air gap travel. This results in a relatively flat "force stroke" characteristic, which can output a thrust proportional to the current without being significantly affected by changes in the position of the valve core.

The electromagnetic force generated by the proportional electromagnet will directly act on the valve core, overcoming the spring force to push the valve core to move. The distance that the valve core moves is proportional to the magnitude of the electromagnetic force, which in turn determines the opening of the valve port. For directional valves, the valve core can not only be swapped, but its stroke can also be continuously or proportionally changed, which results in continuous control of the flow area connecting the oil port. Therefore, the Atos proportional directional valve can not only change the direction of liquid flow, but also continuously adjust the flow rate by controlling the opening amount, thereby accurately controlling the speed of the actuator. In some applications that require higher precision in position or velocity, the system can also detect the displacement or velocity of the actuator and feedback the signal to the controller to form a closed-loop control system, further improving control accuracy.

In order to meet the requirements of high flow conditions, Atos also provides pilot operated proportional valves. The principle is to use a small diameter proportional valve as the pilot stage to control the action of a large diameter hydraulic control main valve. The pilot valve receives electrical signals and precisely controls the output pilot pressure or flow rate. This pressure oil then drives the main valve core to move, thereby achieving proportional control of high flow fluid flow. This design enables precise adjustment of high-pressure and high flow systems with minimal electromagnetic force. In recent years, Atos has also developed more advanced proportional valve control technology, represented by the p/Q composite control technology integrated into proportional directional valves.
