At around 21:30 on October 19th, a traffic accident occurred on the Ziyaxin River Extra Large Bridge on National Highway 106 in Xian County, Cangzhou, Hebei Province. Two tank trucks collided, and one of them carrying 28 tons of benzene leaked. Thousands of students from Xian County No.1 Middle School, who were close to the scene of the incident, were urgently evacuated late at night. The relevant person in charge of the Propaganda Department of Xian County Party Committee told Pengpai News on October 20th that the accident vehicle has been diverted and no casualties have been caused. After the accident, the surrounding environment of the leakage source has been monitored.

On October 20th, a staff member from the Propaganda Department of the Cangzhou Fire Brigade in Hebei Province told Pengpai News that firefighters quickly arrived at the scene. After investigation and on-site questioning, it was found that two benzene tankers had collided, resulting in the leakage of benzene liquid from the front vehicle, with a total of 28 tons of benzene in the tankers. Firefighters assisted the forklift in covering the leaked benzene liquid with sand. After the tanker truck arrived at the scene, it was refilled and the accident vehicle was separated. At 5:01 am on the 20th, all disposal was completed.

Pengpai News found that benzene is a colorless, sweet, transparent liquid with a strong aromatic odor at room temperature. It is flammable, toxic, and a carcinogenic substance.

After the accident, a high school student in Xian County was transferred.

The local official account "High School Zone" in Xianxian County, Cangzhou, announced on October 20 that at 22:30 on October 19, the teachers in charge of class in Xianxian No. 1 Middle School organized thousands of students to transfer after receiving the notice. At present, students have returned to school and are attending classes normally.

Xian County No.1 High School teacher told Pengpai News that Xian County No.1 High School is about 2 kilometers away from the accident site. After receiving the transfer notice, all homeroom teachers organized the safe transfer of students to Xian County No.2 Middle School, Leshou Town Middle School, and Xian County Experimental Primary School, and allowed students to rest in empty classrooms. At 6:30 am on the 20th, the students returned to school. After expert testing, the school was not affected and teaching work could proceed. The school resumed classes as usual at 9:30 am on the 20th.
