The driving force of this market on sensor manufacturers is beneficial for the development and improvement of the entire industry.

The warehousing and transportation of logistics also generate a large demand. Thirdly, it is related to our health. With the development of technology and the improvement of human living standards, people's lifespan is also getting longer and longer. How to have a healthy body while living a long life will become a very hot topic for us, especially for China's gradual development towards an aging society.

Three major trends in the future development of sensors

With the changes in market development, there are also new trends in the development of sensors. The current development of sensors mainly has the following three trends:

1) Miniaturization. Among them, industry, logistics, health, and healthcare will be popular application areas (as shown in Figure 3), all of which are expected to reach a scale of billions of US dollars. This will further drive the improvement of the future sensor industry.

Honeywell's future development focus

As a former traditional industrial enterprise, Honeywell currently has four main businesses: aerospace, home and building technology, safety and productivity solutions, and specialty materials and technology.

In response to the changes in the current sensor market, Chai Xiaozhou, Vice President and CEO of Honeywell's Sensing and Productivity Solutions Division in Greater China, introduced Honeywell's future development priorities at the 2017 Sensor China Sensor and IoT Industry Summit.

1) Workers and equipment. Firstly, from the perspective of workers, it is necessary to consider and solve the environment they are in, how to help them improve their work ability, level, and efficiency, and how to avoid dangerous situations; In addition, from the perspective of equipment, how to better track the working status of these devices is Honeywell's focus area. It is necessary to enable workers to timely understand the real-time working status of the equipment, so as to ensure their work in other areas.

2) Workflow. The use of various automated devices in the workflow, such as automatic recognition and wearable augmented reality technology, can greatly enhance work capabilities. Taking the transportation industry as an example, assets and personnel are truly connected through equipment. Afterwards, when you transport goods, the status of the goods, vehicles, and even drivers can be well controlled through the backend. Once problems are encountered, timely response and handling can be carried out.

3) Cargo hold. As a rapidly developing technology, robots can be well applied to cargo holds, such as using AGV equipment to move your goods, even shelves, and helping you with intelligent picking, which will greatly improve work efficiency.

4) High growth applications. For example, household appliances, buildings, healthcare, industrial automation, etc.

Specific examples of interconnected freight transportation

For specific application scenarios, taking internet freight as an example, for example, transporting flowers from Yunnan to Shanghai, if the temperature and humidity during the transportation process are not well controlled, the flowers will already wilt and cannot be sold when they arrive in Shanghai. Originally, the value was very high, especially during Valentine's Day when the demand for fresh flowers was particularly high. If the flowers delivered to the department were fresh, it would be difficult for the seller to sell them. In this way, the temperature, humidity, position, and even vibration of the flowers during transportation (severe vibration is likely to shake the flowers) are very important. And detecting these indicators requires a lot of sensors, "Chai Xiaozhou said. Honeywell has developed a specialized solution for this application scenario, and we have integrated so many types of sensors

All of them are made in one label, which can be placed on a single item or a pallet. The label is connected to the cloud platform through 4G, and you can see the status of these flowers anytime when you are in Shanghai or Yunnan. Once there is a problem in the middle, especially after one-third of the road transportation, due to the malfunction of your insulated car, these flowers may no longer be usable. At this time, you can take timely measures to deal with the flowers and avoid wasting the remaining two-thirds of the road.
