Common fault diagnosis of Karl Fischer moisture analyzer
Date: 2025-05-14Read: 0
The common fault diagnosis and handling methods of the Karl Fischer moisture analyzer are as follows:
The repeatability of the measurement process is poor, and the pre titration drift value is high: it may be due to poor airtightness of the instrument. It is necessary to check whether the interfaces of the instrument are tight, and apply silicone grease to some loose interfaces appropriately; It is also possible that the molecular sieve in the drying bottle has failed. It is recommended to replace the molecular sieve at least every two weeks and dry it at 200-300 ℃ for 24 hours before it can be reused; In addition, long-term non use of Karl Fischer titration solution can cause unevenness, which can be mixed by repeatedly suctioning and draining the solution.
High drift value after measurement completion: It may be due to incomplete water release from the sample. Extraction time can be increased, or solvents can be added to assist in water release.
Titration cannot be completed: it may be due to a side reaction between the sample and the Kjeldahl solution, requiring the replacement of other types of anolyte or sample pretreatment methods; It may also be due to poor sealing of the titration cup, and the sealing condition of the titration cup needs to be checked; It may also indicate that the electrode is wrapped in pollutants and can be cleaned with appropriate solvents.
The instrument drift value is too high: the failure of the molecular sieve in the drying bottle will affect the measurement accuracy, and a new molecular sieve needs to be replaced; Leakage of O-rings or diaphragm sleeves on the burette can also cause high drift values, and O-rings and diaphragm sleeves need to be replaced separately.
The titration result is inaccurate: it may be due to the failure of the molecular sieve in the drying bottle, and a new molecular sieve needs to be replaced; The presence of condensed water in the outlet pipeline can affect the results. The pipe can be dried, the airflow speed can be reduced, and the temperature can be lowered as much as possible; If the airflow speed is too fast, it is necessary to lower the airflow speed; Uneven samples can also lead to inaccurate results. Before weighing, the number of samples should be reduced to ensure uniformity.
