MOF and COF materials have shown great potential in the fields of gas and humidity sensing due to their high specific surface area, controllable pore structure, and abundant active sites. MOF and COF materials have the following outstanding advantages in sensing:
1. Adjustable pore structure: can be customized according to the size and properties of the target molecule, achieving high selectivity recognition
2. High specific surface area and abundant active sites: providing more sites for interaction with target gas/water molecules, resulting in high sensitivity
3. Flexible design of structure and function: By selecting different metal nodes, organic ligands or monomers, introducing specific functional groups (such as hydrophilic sulfonic acid groups), optimizing the adsorption and interaction of specific molecules
4. Derivative and composite strategies: MOFs can be used as precursors to obtain porous metal oxide composite materials through calcination. These materials typically inherit some of the porous structure of MOFs and may exhibit better gas sensing performance than pure metal oxides
When conducting MOF/COF gas and humidity sensing tests, it is important to focus on exploring the sensing mechanism and understanding the signal generation process, which is crucial for material optimization. The performance evaluation indicators mainly include sensitivity, selectivity (anti-interference ability), response/recovery time, operating temperature (for gas sensors, pursuing room temperature operation is a major direction), stability (including long-term use stability and mechanical stability, especially for flexible sensors), and detection limit.
MOF and COF materials can be used for flexible wearable sensors: combining MOF or COF with flexible substrates for human respiratory monitoring, non-contact switches, and condition detection, such as using COF film to achieve ultra-low humidity (ppm level) detection, artificial intelligence assisted sensing: combining artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze complex data generated by sensors (such as color change patterns), improving the accuracy and efficiency of recognition and classification, etc.
The core of gas and humidity sensitivity testing for MOF/COF materials is to measure the changes in physical and chemical properties of the material when it comes into contact with the target gas or water vapor through precision equipment. Usually, various technical methods such as gas adsorption analysis, quality change detection, and electrical response testing are required.
The gas sensitivity testing equipment can be tested using a KT-C3ZS gas proportioner, which mixes gases in proportion to create a specific atmosphere environment for vacuum tube furnaces or glove boxes. The control method adopts integrated module control. High precision and strong anti-interference ability, can be modified freely according to customer requirements. The air circuit joint adopts a full stainless steel double card sleeve quick connector, which is convenient to connect and not easy to leak.
The humidity is controlled using a KT-RHC1Z humidity controller, which outputs a gas mixture of saturated steam and dry air in proportion. The outlet has no condensed water and can supply gas to gas analyzers, fuel cells, and gas sensing test chambers. Mainly used for simulating and proportioning fuel cell gases for humidification, surface modification of materials, and electrical signal testing of humidity sensitive materials.
The cavity can be equipped with a miniature probe station for testing sensors, semiconductors, optoelectronics, integrated circuits, and packaging. The research and development of precision electrical measurements widely used in complex and high-speed devices aims to ensure quality and reliability, and reduce research and development time and device manufacturing process costs.
