Material characteristics of stainless steel check valve
Date: 2025-08-24Read: 16
Stainless steel check valve, as a key control component in industrial pipeline systems, automatically opens and closes through the pressure difference generated by the flow of the medium. Its core function is to prevent the backflow of the medium and ensure the safe operation of the system. Its material characteristics are:
Corrosion resistance: Stainless steel materials (such as 304, 316L) have a chromium content of ≥ 10.5%, and a dense chromium oxide protective film is formed on the surface, which can resist chemical substances such as acid, alkali, salt, etc. In harsh working conditions such as chemical engineering, electroplating, and seawater treatment, its corrosion resistance is 3-5 times that of cast iron valves, and its service life is over 10 years.
High strength and impact resistance: The yield strength of stainless steel reaches 205-310MPa, which is 1.5 times that of ordinary carbon steel. In high-pressure steam pipelines, it can withstand a pressure of 25MPa without deformation, ensuring long-term adhesion between the valve disc and the valve seat sealing surface.
High temperature resistance: 316L stainless steel maintains stable mechanical properties even at high temperatures of 550 ℃, making it suitable for scenarios such as steam pipelines and high-temperature oil circuits. Its thermal expansion coefficient is close to that of carbon steel, avoiding seal failure caused by thermal expansion and contraction.
The working principle of stainless steel check valve:
When the medium flows in the specified direction, the fluid pressure causes the valve disc to open or rise, and the medium passes through; When the medium flows back, the valve disc acts on the valve seat due to fluid pressure and the weight of the valve disc, thereby cutting off the flow and preventing the medium from flowing back.
During installation, pay attention to the flow direction of the medium and ensure that it is consistent with the arrow direction marked on the valve. The installation methods of different types of check valves vary. For example, disc check valves are generally installed horizontally, while vertical check valves are usually installed vertically.
