How to choose a needle filter that meets the requirements?
Date: 2025-12-03Read: 0
Needle filterIt is a small filtration device used in conjunction with disposable syringes in laboratories, commonly used for small sample pretreatment in experiments such as HPLC and GC. With its convenient and efficient characteristics, it has become a routine consumable in experiments.

Needle filterWithout the need for membrane replacement and cleaning, it can quickly process small volume samples, and most sterilization methods are sterilized by gamma rays, without DNAses, RNAses, and pyrogens, meeting the rigorous experimental requirements of molecular biology and other fields. It has a wide range of application scenarios, suitable for sterilization and filtration of laboratory biological fluids and culture media, as well as pre filtration and particle removal of small samples in HPLC and GC. It can also be used for particle removal of buffer solutions, additives, and other reagents. Some specialized models can be adapted to special experimental needs such as filtration after virus packaging.

Key selection points:

Select membrane material based on sample properties:

Water based samples: prioritize PES or nylon membrane, with good hydrophilicity and fast flow rate.

Organic solvent: Choose PTFE or polypropylene film, resistant to chemical corrosion.

Gas filtration: PTFE membrane is resistant to high temperatures and low precipitation, suitable for sterile air filtration.

Determine aperture size:

Sterilization filtration: Choose 0.22 μ m or 0.45 μ m pore size.

Pre filtration: 1-10 μ m large pore membrane to remove coarse particles.

Fine filtration: 0.1 μ m pore size is used for ultrapure water preparation or high-precision analysis.

Consider flow and pressure:

High viscosity samples: Choose a combination of large pore membranes or pre filtration to reduce filtration resistance.

High voltage application: Confirm the withstand voltage value of the casing to avoid the risk of rupture.

Interface compatibility:

Confirm the specifications of the needle interface and match it with the syringe or sampling tube.
