T0730-2025 Asphalt Mixture Seepage Test

1 Purpose and Scope of Application

This method is applicable for determining the water permeability coefficient of asphalt mixture specimens to verify the mix design of asphalt mixtures.

2 Instruments and materials

2.1 Road seepage meter: semi-automatic, structure and size as shown in Figure T0730-1, with transparent organic glass on the upper partThe cylinder has a capacity of 600mL and a scale on it. There are thick markings at 100mL and 500mL, with a height of 20mL at 10mm. The lower part is a transparent organic glass cylinder, which is connected to the upper part through an aluminum or stainless steel connection seat and fixed to the base through a fixed seat; The base is made of aluminum or stainless steel material, with an inner diameter of 150-151mm and an outer diameter of 300mm for the lower opening. There is a water outlet hole in the middle of the upper part, with a diameter of 25mm ± 2mm. The water permeability meter is equipped with a piston inside and a rubber plug at the bottom, with an outer diameter slightly larger than the diameter of the water outlet hole; The Test Code for Asphalt and Asphalt Mixtures in Highway Engineering (JTG 3410-2025) stipulates that a liquid level sensor is installed inside the permeability meter, which is connected to an external display. During the test, the display shows the liquid level height and permeability coefficient in real time. Note: During the transition phase of this regulation, for asphalt mixtures with a permeability coefficient not exceeding 300mL/min, it is allowed to continue using the old permeability meter for testing, but for newly purchased permeability meters, they should meet the requirements of this method.

2.2 Ring: Variable thickness metal ring with a cutting edge at the bottom, an outer diameter of 149-150mm, a width of 5mm, and an upper wall thickness of approximately

5mm, The main purpose is to prevent the sealing material from being squeezed into the test surface, resulting in inconsistent water seepage areas.

2.3 Plastic rings: inner diameter 150mm, outer diameter 300mm.

2.4 Counterweight: Cast iron or stainless steel, two 1/2 circles or four 1/4 circles, with a total weight of approximately 10kg.

2.6 Sealing material: Rubber putty.

2.7 Test water: Clean water with a temperature of 15-25 ℃.

2.8 Others: chalk, scraper, etc.

3 JTG 3410-2025 Asphalt Mixture Water Penetration Test Road Surface Water Penetration Meter Semi automatic Test Procedure Detailed Explanation of Methods and Steps

3.1 Preparation work

3. 1. According to the T 0703 rolling method specified in this regulation, asphalt mixture specimens shall be formed, and each group of specimens shall not be less than 2. become

The difference between the void ratio of the specimen and the design void ratio should be ≤± 1??

3. 1. Install a water seepage meter in combination.

3. 1. 3. Support the water seepage meter horizontally on a water receiving container (such as a large bucket or sink) directly through a bracket or cushion block.

According to method 3.2, measure the time difference between the flow of 100mL and 500mL using a water permeability meter. Measure no less than 5 times and take the arithmetic mean

As the free emptying time of the water permeability meter (denoted as t), accurate to 0 1s. t should be ≤ 0 8s。

3. 2. 1. Support the specimen horizontally on a water receiving container (such as a large bucket or sink) through a bracket or cushion block, and remove the plastic

Align the circle and place it on the specimen. Draw a circular ring along the plastic circle with chalk. Remove the plastic ring and seal it with sealing material

The position should be sealed, and the sealing material should have a certain thickness.

3. 2. 2. Place the ring centered on the surface of the specimen and remove any sealing materials or waste newspapers inside the ring; then

Place the water permeability meter in the center on the surface of the specimen and press it evenly onto the circular sealing material with force. If necessary, add a counterweight to the water seepage meter

On the base

3. 2. 3. Tighten the rubber plug to the water outlet of the water permeability meter; Fill the vector cylinder with water. Then gently pull the piston upwards and hang it on top

At the top of the organic glass measuring cylinder, the water in the measuring cylinder flows down through the outlet hole, and the air in the lower space of the water permeability meter, the gap between the base and the specimen is discharged. If necessary, water is added to the measuring cylinder; The descent speed of the water surface in the equivalent cylinder slows down, and there is no air in the upper measuring cylinder and exhaust pipe

When soaking, add water to the vector cylinder until the liquid level reaches the 0 mark.

3. 2. Measure according to one of the following methods:

(1) When the water level drops to the 100mL mark, immediately start timing and measure the water volume at the corresponding liquid level for 180 seconds.

(2) When the water level drops to the 100mL mark, start timing immediately. The liquid level drops rapidly and has already dropped before reaching 180s

Measure the time when the liquid level reaches the 500mL mark.

(3) If conducting 3 two In the three-step process, the water level drops very slowly, and after 180 seconds of timing, it is visually estimated that the water level does not drop more than

100mL scale line. Record the amount of water corresponding to the starting liquid level, while timing, and measure the amount of water corresponding to the liquid level for 300 seconds.

Test Code for Asphalt and Asphalt Mixtures in Highway Engineering (JTG 3410-2025)

(4) Add water again to the same specimen until the liquid level reaches the 0 mark, and measure again twice.

3. 2. During the testing process, if water seeps out between the base and the sealing material, it indicates insufficient sealing and should be resealed.

3. 2. According to the above method, complete a set of 2 test specimens for measurement.

4 Data processing

Calculate the permeability coefficient of asphalt mixture specimens according to equation (T 0730-1), accurate to 0 1.

(T0730-1)

In the formula: Cw - permeability coefficient, mL/min;

V? - Water volume for one timer, mL;

V? - Water volume for the second timer, mL;

T? - Time for one timer, s;

T? - Time of the second timer, s;

T? - The impact time of the water permeability meter, s. If the water volume measured during the second timer reaches 500rnL, then to=t is the water permeability meter

Free emptying time; When other conditions are met, t?=0.

4. Take the arithmetic mean of three measurements taken on a specimen.

4.3 Take the average arithmetic mean of a set of test specimens as the permeability coefficient of asphalt mixture, accurate to

1mL/min。
