Soil ball millIt is an efficient and multifunctional laboratory equipment designed for fine grinding and mixing of soil and other solid samples. It can grind samples to the micrometer or even nanometer level (with a minimum particle size of 0.01 micrometer), meeting the strict requirements for sample uniformity and fineness in fields such as geology, environment, and materials science. The instrument adopts a planetary motion structure, driven by an electric motor to rotate the sun gear, and the eccentric grinding tank rotates in the opposite direction. The sample and grinding ball in the grinding tank generate high kinetic energy impact and friction under the combined effect of revolution and rotation, achieving efficient crushing and mixing.
Soil ball millOperation steps:
1. Preparation work
Sample pretreatment: Air dry the collected soil samples, remove impurities such as stones and plant residues, and perform preliminary crushing.
Preparation of grinding tank and grinding ball:
Select the appropriate grinding jar (such as agate, stainless steel, zirconia, polytetrafluoroethylene, etc.) and grinding ball material based on the properties of the sample (such as hardness, whether metal contamination needs to be avoided).
Clean and dry the grinding tank and grinding ball to ensure there are no residues.
Sample loading:
Place an appropriate amount of pre treated soil sample (usually not exceeding one-third of the capacity of the grinding tank) into the grinding tank.
Add an appropriate amount of grinding balls. The total volume of the grinding ball is usually 5-10 times the sample volume, or following the recommended ratio of the instrument.
Sealed grinding tank: Ensure that the grinding tank cover is tightened or snapped in place to prevent leakage during high-speed operation.
2. Instrument setup and installation
Check the instrument: Confirm that the ball mill is placed on a stable and sturdy table, and the power connection is normal.
Install grinding tank:
Securely install the grinding jar containing the sample and grinding ball onto the fixture of the ball mill.
For symmetrical ball mills, it is usually necessary to install grinding tanks of the same weight at symmetrical positions to maintain balance. If there is only one sample, an empty or weighted tank needs to be installed at a symmetrical position.
Parameter settings:
Set the grinding time, speed (or vibration frequency/amplitude) according to the sample type and required fineness.
Some instruments may require setting up forward and reverse modes or cycling modes.
Common parameter reference: speed 200-600 rpm, time 1-10 minutes. Specific parameters need to be optimized based on equipment and samples.
3. Start running
Close the safety cover of the instrument (if any).
Start the instrument and begin grinding.
During operation, pay attention to listening to the sound of the instrument to see if it is normal and if there are any abnormal vibrations. If there is any abnormality, stop the machine immediately for inspection.
4. End operation
After running, the instrument will automatically stop (or manually stop).
Open the protective cover and carefully remove the grinding tank (the tank may heat up due to friction).
Open the lid of the grinding jar and pour the ground soil sample into a clean and dry container.
Cleaning: Thoroughly clean the grinding tank and grinding ball, air dry for later use.
