What is the working principle of laminar flow air curtain exhaust cabinet?
Date: 2025-09-16Read: 1
Laminar flow air curtain exhaust cabinetThrough the three core technologies of air curtain isolation, laminar flow optimization, and air intake and exhaust balance, the dual goals of efficient exhaust and energy-saving safety are achieved. The working principle can be decomposed into the following key steps:
1、 Wind curtain formation: physical isolation of harmful gases
The supplementary air system introduces natural wind
60% of natural air is directly introduced from the outside through top or side makeup fans (some models can reach a higher proportion). After being purified by a high-efficiency filter, the air descends vertically along the cabinet in a stable laminar flow form, forming an air curtain.
Function: Separate the space inside the cabinet into a working area (experimental operation area) and a non working area (exhaust duct) to prevent harmful gases from escaping.
Advantages: Compared to traditional exhaust cabinets, the leakage rate can be reduced to below 0.01ppm (better than European and American standards), ensuring the safety of operators.
Internal supplementary air curtain structure
The air curtain airflow is sent from both sides or the top of the cabinet, covering the entire work area and forming a unidirectional stable laminar flow. This design can reduce the interference of operator movement on airflow and maintain exhaust stability.
2、 Airflow organization: laminar flow technology accelerates exhaust
Push pull airflow motion structure
Using 3D fluid simulation analysis technology, design the push-pull airflow path to form a unidirectional stable laminar flow inside the cabinet.
Airflow in the workspace: Spread uniformly at low speeds (0.3-0.5m/s) to cover the experimental operating surface and reduce turbulence.
Non working area airflow: Quickly inhale harmful gases into the exhaust outlet at a high wind speed (1.0-1.2m/s) to avoid retention.
Application of Bernoulli Effect
Based on Bernoulli fluid dynamics principles, the supplementary air thrust can reduce the exhaust air demand by 40%. By optimizing the intake and exhaust ratio, indoor fresh air consumption can be reduced by 80% while maintaining exhaust efficiency.
3、 Balance of intake and exhaust air: dynamically adjust to maintain negative pressure
Independent air supply and exhaust system
Air intake: Fresh outdoor air is introduced through a makeup fan, purified by a high-efficiency filter, and then sent into the cabinet.
Exhaust: Harmful gases inside the cabinet are captured by the air curtain and discharged outside through the bottom or rear exhaust vents.
Pressure balance: The system dynamically adjusts the intake and exhaust air volume to maintain a slight negative pressure (-5 to -10Pa) indoors, preventing harmful gases from flowing back.
Dual guarantee of energy conservation and safety
Energy saving: Reduce the demand for exhaust air by 40%, lower the load on the air conditioning system, and save up to 24000 yuan per unit annually (taking medium-sized laboratories as an example).
Safety: The leakage rate is better than European and American standards, with strong anti-interference ability, suitable for high-risk experimental environments (such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, semiconductors, etc.).
4、 Circulating Purification: Continuously Improving Indoor Air Quality
Efficient filter circulation purification
The air curtain circulation system inside the exhaust cabinet can maintain indoor air flow and periodically purify indoor air through high-efficiency filters, reducing the concentration of particulate matter and harmful gases.
Low noise design
Optimize the fan and airflow path, reduce operating noise to below 50 decibels, and improve the laboratory working environment.
