The usage process of handheld stainless steel alloy spectrometer
Date: 2025-10-29Read: 2
Handheld stainless steel alloy spectrometer is an efficient and accurate analytical tool widely used for component detection and quality control of metal materials. The usage process must strictly follow the specifications to ensure data accuracy and equipment lifespan. The following is a detailed usage process and key details:
1、 Preparation before operation: Environmental and equipment inspection
Environmental condition confirmation: The instrument should be used in a dry (humidity ≤ 95%), room temperature environment, avoiding direct sunlight, high temperature or high humidity environment. The detection area should be free of vibration interference and away from strong electromagnetic field sources.
Equipment status check: Check whether the appearance of the instrument is intact, the optical window is clean and free of stains, and the battery is fully charged. If using an X-ray fluorescence spectrometer, protective gloves and glasses should be worn to avoid radiation risks.
Sample pretreatment: Stainless steel samples need to be cut, ground, or polished to a flat surface to remove oxide layers, oil stains, or rust, ensuring that the metallic luster is exposed. For curved samples, the detection angle needs to be adjusted to ensure signal stability.
2、 Power on and calibration: ensure data accuracy
Startup and self-test: Press and hold the power button to turn on the device and wait for the system self-test to complete.
Standardized calibration: Select standard samples that match the composition of stainless steel for calibration. Enter calibration mode, place the standard sample in the detection area, enter the standard value and start the calibration program, repeat multiple times until the error is ≤± 1%.
Parameter setting: Select the analysis mode (qualitative/quantitative) according to the detection requirements, set the element range (such as Cr, Ni, Mo and other key elements of stainless steel) and measurement time.
3、 Sample testing and data collection
Positioning and excitation: Place the probe vertically against the surface of the sample to ensure good contact. Press the measurement button, and the instrument emits laser or X-ray to excite the sample, collecting spectral signals in real time.
Process monitoring: Keep the equipment stable and avoid shaking.
Result generation: After the measurement is completed, the screen displays the type of element, percentage of content, and confidence level. Can connect to a computer to export data or generate detection reports.
4、 Result analysis and application
Grade determination: Compare the standard spectrum library to determine the stainless steel grade, and evaluate the corrosion resistance based on the chromium (Cr) and nickel (Ni) content.
Quality control: Record testing data and establish historical archives for traceability.
5、 Maintenance and safety precautions
Daily cleaning: Use a dust-free cloth to wipe the outer shell and optical windows, and prohibit chemical cleaning agents. Regularly clean the probe dust to prevent blockage.
Battery management: Use the original charger to charge and avoid excessive discharge; When not in use for a long time, the battery should be fully charged and stored in a cool place.
Storage requirements: Store in a dry and ventilated environment after shutting down, avoiding direct sunlight or high temperatures.
Safety protection: Do not look directly at the excitation beam to prevent eye burns. Avoid prolonged and continuous use that may cause overheating, and take timely breaks to cool down.
The standardized use of handheld stainless steel alloy spectrometers needs to run through the entire process of "preparation calibration testing maintenance". Through strict operating procedures and regular maintenance, the accuracy of the test results (error rate<1%) can be ensured, while extending the service life of the equipment to more than 5 years.
