How to optimize the analysis results of Fourier transform near-infrared spectrometer?
Date: 2025-09-12Read: 2
Fourier Transform Near Infrared Spectrometer (FT-NIR) is an efficient analytical tool widely used in material analysis, environmental monitoring, food testing, and pharmaceutical industries. In order to improve the accuracy and reliability of the analysis results, optimization can be carried out from the following aspects:

傅里叶变换近红外光谱仪

  1、 Hardware optimization

1. Sampling method
-Non uniform sampling: Using non-uniform sampling methods can improve the resolution and signal-to-noise ratio of spectrograms. By matching high-speed acquisition cards, non-uniform sampling can better restore the original information of interferograms, thereby improving sampling efficiency and quality.
-High speed sampling: Using a high-speed acquisition card can significantly improve the resolution and signal-to-noise ratio of spectrograms, especially in situations where high-precision analysis is required.
2. Detector selection
-High sensitivity detector: Choosing a high-sensitivity detector, such as an electronically cooled InGaAs detector, can effectively improve the signal strength and thus enhance the reliability of the analysis results.
3. Light source optimization
-Ultra continuous infrared light source: The use of ultra continuous infrared light source can expand the coherence length, reduce the difficulty of locating the zero optical path difference interference peak, and thus improve measurement accuracy.
  2、 Data processing optimization
1. Signal enhancement
-Signal accumulation: By accumulating spectra over multiple cycles, the signal-to-noise ratio can be enhanced, thereby improving the accuracy and reliability of signal detection.
2. Preprocessing techniques
-Baseline correction: By subtracting a constant value from the original spectrum, the baseline is corrected to eliminate baseline drift in the spectrum.
-Multiple Scattering Correction (MSC): Used to correct scattering effects in spectra and improve the quality of spectral data.
-First derivative spectroscopy: Using Savitzky Golay filter to calculate the first derivative spectrum can enhance the characteristic peaks in the spectrum, thereby improving the sensitivity of analysis.
3. Data analysis methods
-Principal Component Analysis (PCA): Used for dimensionality reduction and feature extraction, it can effectively extract the main information from spectral data and reduce data complexity.
-Partial least squares regression (PLS): used to establish predictive models, such as drug concentration prediction models. By selecting an appropriate number of latent variables, the predictive accuracy of the model can be improved.
4. Filtering technology
-Software filtering: Using a software Butterworth sixth order low-pass filter can effectively remove high-frequency noise from the signal, thereby improving the signal-to-noise ratio.
-Hardware filtering: Combined with a hardware Butterworth fifth order bandpass filter, the quality of the signal can be further improved.
  3、 Software and Algorithm Optimization
1. Spectral calibration correction
-Fast Fourier Transform: Using a spectral calibration correction algorithm based on Fast Fourier Transform, it can significantly improve the speed of spectral correction and is suitable for imaging spectrometers with high spatial resolution and high spectral resolution.
-Combining model estimation with monochromatic reference light estimation: By combining model estimation with monochromatic reference light estimation, the estimation error caused by the relative displacement between detector pixels and the optical axis due to the movement or vibration of the imaging spectrometer can be effectively reduced, thereby improving the estimation accuracy of spectral drift.
2. Model Transfer and Error Analysis
-Model optimization: By optimizing spectral preprocessing methods, modeling bands, and multivariate correction algorithms, the predictive performance of the model can be improved. For example, in the process of refining honey in traditional Chinese medicine manufacturing, the use of Fourier transform, optimized modeling band (1880-2040 nm), and support vector regression algorithm can significantly improve the accuracy of moisture detection.
-Error analysis: By comparing the first-order moment, probability density function, and maximum signal-to-noise ratio of spectral difference signals between different instruments, the differential characteristics of spectral data between different instruments can be discovered, thereby finding the feasibility of universal models between instruments.
  4、 Operation and maintenance optimization
1. Regular calibration
-Regular calibration: Regularly calibrate the instrument to ensure its measurement accuracy and stability. The calibration process includes light source intensity calibration, detector sensitivity calibration, and optical path difference calibration.
2. Environmental control
-Environmental control: Ensure that the instrument operates in a stable environment, avoiding the influence of factors such as temperature, humidity, and vibration on the measurement results. For example, using a constant temperature and humidity laboratory can significantly improve the stability of measurements.
Through the above hardware optimization, data processing optimization, software and algorithm optimization, as well as operation and maintenance optimization, significant improvements can be madeFourier transform near-infrared spectrometerThe accuracy and reliability of the analysis results. These optimization measures are not only applicable to laboratory environments, but can also play an important role in industrial production, environmental monitoring, and food testing.
