Guidelines for the use details and standardized operation of electronic scales
Date: 2025-06-30Read: 0
Electronic scales, as precision weighing instruments, are widely used in laboratories, pharmaceuticals, food testing and other fields. The core principle is to convert the mass signal into an electrical signal through electromagnetic force balance or strain gauge sensors, and display the result after calculation by a microprocessor. To ensure measurement accuracy and extend equipment lifespan, the following usage details must be strictly followed:
1、 Preparation before use
1. Environmental control
-Temperature and humidity: The optimal working environment is a temperature of 15-30 ℃ and a humidity of 40-60% RH. Temperature fluctuations should be controlled within ± 3 ℃ to avoid sensor drift caused by thermal expansion and contraction.
-Shock absorption and wind protection: Place on a stable table, away from vibration sources such as centrifuges and ovens. It is recommended to equip windproof covers and close doors and windows during weighing to prevent airflow interference.
-Electromagnetic interference: Keep away from strong magnetic fields (such as magnets and transformers) and high-frequency equipment (such as microwave ovens), and ensure that the power supply is well grounded.
2. Installation and Calibration
-Horizontal adjustment: Use a bubble level to adjust the balance to a horizontal position, with a deviation not exceeding ± 0.5 °, otherwise it may cause weighing errors.
-Preheating and self check: Preheat for 30 minutes after turning on (1 hour for high-precision models), and perform self check procedures (such as calibration prompts and zero point calibration) after the display screen stabilizes.
-Calibration verification:
-Internal calibration: Some models support automatic calibration, simulating standard mass through built-in weights.
-External calibration: Use standard weights (with higher accuracy than the balance) for manual calibration, with an error of ≤± 0.1% (such as weighing 100g weights with an error of ≤ 0.1g).
2、 Operating standards
1. Sample processing
-Pre constant temperature: High temperature or low temperature samples should be returned to room temperature (± 3 ℃) before weighing to avoid changes in air buoyancy caused by temperature differences.
-Container selection: Use a clean, dry weighing dish or tin foil, with a weight not exceeding one-third of the maximum capacity of the balance. When weighing liquids, it is necessary to cover or use sealed containers.
2. Weighing steps
-Zeroing operation: After opening the windshield, lightly press the "zeroing" button (some models require long pressing in an unloaded state). If no operation is performed within 30 seconds after zeroing, reset to zero.
-Peel function: After placing the container, press the "Peel" button to reset the display screen to zero, and then add the sample to read the net weight. Be careful not to replace the container after peeling.
-Reading timing: After the value stabilizes (fluctuation range ≤ 0.01% range), record the data. The high-precision balance needs to wait for the stability indicator (such as "g" constantly on).
3. Special scenario handling
-Micro weighing: Adopting the "incremental method", which first measures the weight of the container and then adds the sample to the target value, suitable for samples ≤ 1mg.
-Volatile/corrosive samples: Quickly weigh in a closed container to avoid gas adsorption affecting the sensor.
3、 Precautions
1. Operation taboos
-Overloading use: It is strictly prohibited to exceed the maximum weighing value (such as a 200g balance cannot weigh 210g), otherwise it may damage the sensor.
-Impact load: The sample should be placed gently in the center of the scale to avoid mechanical damage caused by tilting or falling.
-Chemical contact: Corrosive liquids (such as strong acids and bases) should be isolated and weighed, and spilled liquids should be cleaned up in a timely manner.
2. Daily maintenance
-Cleaning and maintenance:
-Scale pan: Use a soft bristled brush to remove residue, and wipe stubborn stains with an alcohol swab.
-Windproof cover: Regularly clean the glass or transparent plastic cover to maintain transparency.
-Sensor protection: It is strictly prohibited to disassemble the structure under the scale pan. Dust can be gently wiped with a dust-free cloth.
-Data recording: After each weighing, record the environmental conditions (temperature and humidity), calibration status, and operator for easy traceability of error sources.
4、 Long term storage and scrapping
-Short term shutdown: Power on for 2 hours per week to prevent moisture and cover with a dust cover.
-Long term idle: Remove the battery (if it is a portable model) and apply rust proof oil to the sensor.
-Scrap standard: If the calibration error continues to exceed the standard (such as ± 0.5%), the sensor leaks or the housing is severely corroded, it needs to be delisted.
