Multi port valveAs the core component of fluid control systems, installation standardization directly affects sealing performance, control accuracy, and service life. This guide focuses on the core points of "safe adaptation, precise installation, and standardized debugging", and is suitable for common scenarios such as industrial fluid control and laboratory pipelines. Beginners can also quickly get started.
1、 Preparation before installation (key prerequisite, avoid rework)
1. Core parameter verification
Specification matching: Confirm that the diameter (such as DN10, DN25), pressure rating (such as PN1.6MPa, 10bar), material (such as stainless steel 304, PVC, PTFE) of the multi way valve are consistent with the pipeline system to avoid leakage or insufficient pressure resistance caused by inconsistent specifications.
Interface adaptation: Check whether the valve interface type (such as threaded NPT/G, flange, sleeve) matches the pipeline interface, and prepare corresponding sealing components (such as raw tape, O-ring, flange gasket) in advance.
Medium compatibility: Check the compatibility between the valve material and the conveying medium (such as strong acid, high-temperature oil, food grade fluid) to avoid corrosion of the valve core or contamination of the medium.
2. Preparation of tools and consumables
Basic tools: wrench (open/torque wrench, selected according to interface specifications), pipe wrench, tape measure, marker pen, sandpaper/file (used to trim pipeline burrs).
Sealing consumables: prepare raw material tape (clockwise winding) or sealant for threaded interfaces, prepare corresponding material gaskets (such as nitrile rubber, PTFE gaskets) for flange interfaces, and prepare special card sleeves for card sleeve interfaces.
Safety equipment: gloves, goggles. If high pressure or corrosive media are involved, chemical resistant clothing and anti slip shoes should be worn.
3. Installation environment inspection
Choose an installation location that is ventilated, dry, dust-free, and easy to operate and maintain, away from high-temperature heat sources (such as boilers and heaters) and strong vibration equipment; If installed outdoors, a rain cover should be added to prevent rainwater from seeping into the interior of the valve.
2、 Core installation steps (operation by interface type, precise execution)
1. General pre operation
First, close the main valve of the pipeline system, empty the residual medium in the pipeline and release pressure; Use sandpaper to trim the rough edges of the pipeline interface, and wipe the inside and outside of the interface with a clean cloth to remove oil and impurities (to avoid impurities sticking to the valve core).
2. Installation of threaded interfaces (most commonly used, with a focus on leak prevention)
Wrap the raw material tape clockwise at the valve thread interface, with 3-5 layers of winding (the larger the diameter, the more layers there are to avoid excessive thickness causing the interface to bite loosely), and reserve 1-2 teeth at the end without winding (to prevent the raw material tape from entering the pipeline and blocking the valve).
Slowly screw the valve into the pipeline interface by hand, confirm that the thread is smoothly engaged without any jamming, and then use a wrench to tighten it at a constant speed. The torque should be controlled within the range specified in the valve manual (such as the torque of 5-8N · m for DN15 threaded valves) to avoid over tightening and damaging the threads.
After installation, rotate the valve handle/knob to confirm that the valve core switches flexibly without any jamming. If there is any jamming, loosen the valve and readjust it.
3. Installation of flange interface (commonly used in high-pressure scenarios, with a focus on centering)
Place the flange gasket in the center of the pipeline flange sealing surface, ensuring that the gasket is not offset (gasket size matches the flange sealing surface, double-layer gaskets are prohibited).
Align the valve flange with the pipeline flange, ensuring that the flange bolt holes are completely aligned (with a deviation of ≤ 0.5mm), insert the bolts and fit the nuts. First, manually tighten all nuts evenly to ensure that the flange surface fits tightly.
Use a torque wrench to tighten the bolts in a "diagonally staggered" sequence in stages (e.g. 4 bolts in the order of 1 → 3 → 2 → 4), increasing the torque each time to the specified value (e.g. PN1.6MPa flange torque 15-20N · m), to avoid unilateral force causing flange deformation and leakage.
4. Installation of card sleeve interface (commonly used for precision pipelines, with emphasis on sealing)
Insert the sleeve into the end of the pipeline, ensuring that the pipeline is inserted into the bottom of the valve interface, and the blade of the sleeve is tightly attached to the sealing surface of the valve.
Tighten the sleeve nut with a wrench, first to a slight resistance, then continue tightening by 1/4-1/2 turn until the sleeve is tightly attached to the pipeline and valve (excessive tightening is prohibited to cause the sleeve to break).
3、 Commissioning and acceptance after installation (ensure normal function)
1. Sealing test (core acceptance item)
Low pressure test: Slowly open the pipeline valve, increase the system pressure to 50% of the working pressure, hold for 10 minutes, apply soapy water to the valve interface, and observe that no bubbles are produced to be qualified.
High pressure test: If it is a high-pressure system, increase it to the rated working pressure and maintain it for 30 minutes. If the pressure drop is ≤ 5%, it is qualified; If it involves highly toxic or flammable media, nitrogen replacement should be used before testing.
2. Function debugging
Manually switch the position of the valve core of the multi way valve (such as switching from "1-way 2" to "1-way 3"), confirm that the switching process is smooth and without any lag, and that the flow/pressure at each passage meets the design requirements (which can be detected by flow meters and pressure gauges).
If it is an electric/pneumatic multi position multi way valve, after connecting the control circuit, test the consistency between the remote control signal and the valve core action to ensure timely and accurate switching response.
3. Identification and recording
Paste labels on the valve body, indicating the valve number, medium flow direction, and diameter specifications; Record the installation date, operator, and testing data to form an installation file (for easy maintenance and traceability in the future).
4、 Installation precautions (key to avoiding pitfalls)
Do not strike the valve core or stem during valve installation to avoid damaging internal seals and control mechanisms.
During installation, it is necessary to reserve space for valve operation (handle/knob rotation range ≥ 90 °) to avoid obstruction by pipelines or other equipment.
If multiple multi way valves have clear medium flow direction markings (such as "IN" and "OUT"), they must be installed according to the markings, and reverse installation is prohibited to cause functional failure.
If leakage is found after installation, it is necessary to release the pressure first and then disassemble and adjust it. It is forbidden to operate under pressure (high-pressure scenarios can easily cause safety accidents).
Following the above steps can effectively ensureMulti port valveThe installation quality is improved to reduce the risk of later leakage, jamming and other faults. If it is a special working condition (such as ultra-high temperature, ultra-high pressure, strong corrosion), it is necessary to refer to the special installation plan provided by the valve manufacturer.
