What are the details to pay attention to when installing a bimetallic thermometer
Date: 2024-08-19Read: 44
A bimetallic thermometer is an instrument that uses the principle of two different metal plates expanding differently at different temperatures to measure temperature. It has the characteristics of simple structure, convenient use, and high accuracy, and is widely used for temperature measurement in various industrial production processes.
Choose the appropriate installation location:
*The bimetallic thermometer should be installed in a position that can represent the actual temperature of the measured medium, avoiding the influence of the surrounding environment. For example, when installing on pipelines, a location with sufficient fluid flow should be selected.
*Avoid installing the thermometer in areas with high vibration to avoid affecting measurement accuracy and service life.
*For corrosive media, appropriate materials and anti-corrosion measures should be selected to extend the service life of the thermometer.
Ensure correct installation method:
*Bimetallic thermometers can be connected to equipment through threaded connections, flange connections, and other methods. When choosing a connection method, it should be determined based on the specific situation of the device and the manufacturer's recommendations.
*During installation, it should be ensured that there is good thermal conductivity between the thermometer and the measured medium. Thermal conductivity can be improved by applying thermal grease between the thermometer and the measured medium.
*During the installation process, attention should be paid to the protection of the thermometer to avoid damage such as impact and distortion.
Adjust the zero position and range of the thermometer:
*After installation, the thermometer should be adjusted for zero position and range. Firstly, place the thermometer in an environment with a known temperature and observe whether its reading is accurate. If there is a deviation, adjust the zero adjustment screw of the thermometer.
*Then, place the thermometer in another known temperature environment and observe whether its reading is accurate. If there is a deviation, adjust the range adjustment screw of the thermometer.
*Repeat the above steps until the indicated values of the thermometer are accurate at all temperature points.
Regular maintenance and calibration:
*To ensure the accuracy and stability of bimetallic thermometers, they should be regularly maintained and calibrated. The maintenance includes cleaning the surface of the thermometer and checking if the connection parts are secure.
*During calibration, the thermometer can be compared with a standard thermometer to observe if there is any deviation in its indicated value. If there is any deviation, it can be adjusted according to the above method. It is recommended to perform calibration at least once a year.
