Pyroelectric testing is a key means of studying and evaluating the performance of thermoelectric materials. Pyroelectric effect refers to the phenomenon of certain crystals or polar materials generating charges on their surface due to changes in spontaneous polarization intensity when temperature changes. By measuring the changes in charges or voltages generated by the material under different temperature conditions, the thermoelectric performance of the material can be evaluated.
Pyroelectric testing method:
-Static method: Heat the sample to a certain temperature and allow it to cool naturally, while measuring the voltage or charge changes at both ends of the sample. This method is simple to operate, but the measurement time is long and it is easily affected by external temperature fluctuations.
-Dynamic method: Periodic temperature modulation of the sample, such as using a heating furnace to heat and cool the sample at a certain heating and cooling rate, while measuring the current or voltage response of the sample. This method can quickly obtain the pyroelectric characteristics of materials at different temperatures, but it requires high precision and stability of the equipment.
-Temperature control and measurement system: including temperature controller, heating furnace body, temperature tester, etc. The temperature controller is used to accurately control the temperature inside the heating furnace to meet the temperature conditions required for testing; The temperature tester monitors the temperature changes of the sample in real time and transmits the temperature signal to the computer for analysis and recording.
-Weak signal measurement system: Due to the extremely weak charge or voltage signals generated by pyroelectric materials, high-sensitivity microcurrent amplifiers and voltage measuring instruments are required to accurately measure these signals, amplify them, and input them into a computer for processing.
-Computer software system: used to control the operation of testing equipment, collect and process measurement data, and analyze and calculate data according to preset programs and algorithms to obtain parameters such as the pyroelectric coefficient and pyroelectric response rate of materials.
*Precautions
1. Environmental requirements: Pay attention to measuring the temperature and humidity of the environment to avoid the influence of external interference factors on the measurement results.
2. Equipment calibration: Before the experiment, the measuring equipment needs to be calibrated to ensure its accuracy and reliability.
3. Temperature control: The temperature setting of the temperature control device should be accurate to ensure the accuracy and reliability of experimental data.
4. Safety protection: During the experiment, attention should be paid to safety to avoid accidents such as electric shock or burns.
