High temperature box type experimental electric furnace is the core equipment for high-temperature experiments such as material sintering, ceramic calcination, metal heat treatment, and ash content determination. Its working temperature often reaches over 1000 ℃, even up to 1700 ℃. Improper operation can easily cause serious equipment damage or personal injury accidents. Developing and strictly adhering to scientific and standardized operating procedures is the fundamental guarantee for ensuring experimental safety, accurate data, and extending equipment lifespan.

1、 Preparation and inspection before operation
1. Environmental and equipment inspection:
① Ensure that the electric furnace is placed on a stable, level, well ventilated table or bracket, with no flammable or explosive materials around, and sufficient heat dissipation space.
② Check whether the appearance of the furnace body is intact, whether the sealing strip of the furnace door is aged and cracked, and confirm that the power supply voltage meets the equipment requirements.
③ Check if the furnace is clean and free of sample debris, molten material, or volatile substances from the previous experiment.
2. Sample preparation and placement:
① It is strictly prohibited to directly put any form of liquid, flammable, explosive, corrosive or low melting point materials into the furnace.
② The sample must be placed in a high-temperature resistant crucible (such as a corundum or zirconia crucible) or ceramic boat. The crucible must be clean and dry.
③ When placing samples, use specialized crucible tongs and handle with care. The sample should be placed in the center of the uniform temperature zone of the furnace and should not touch the heating elements on both sides of the furnace wall.
④ Ensure that the gas generated during the heating process of the sample can evaporate freely and avoid high pressure in a closed container.
2、 Running operation process
1. Startup and program settings:
① Close the furnace door and ensure that the locking device is in place.
② Connect the power and turn on the power switch of the controller.
③ Program settings (key steps): Set the temperature rise program on the temperature controller.
Target temperature: Set the final required temperature.
Heating rate: Set an appropriate heating rate based on the properties of the sample. For samples containing crystalline water or easily decomposed, slow heating (such as 5-10 ℃/min) must be set to prevent sample splashing or damage to the furnace.
Insulation time: The time set to maintain at the target temperature.
Cooling program: usually set to automatically turn off heating and naturally cool down after the program ends.
2. Operation and monitoring:
① After confirming the program is correct, press the "Start" button to start heating.
② During the operation of the equipment, operators must not leave their posts and should closely monitor whether the actual temperature displayed by the temperature controller matches the set curve.
③ Pay attention to observing the equipment for any abnormal noise, smoke, or odor. Once any abnormality is detected, immediately press the "emergency stop" button or cut off the power, and investigate the cause.
3、 Post operation and daily maintenance
1. Sampling:
① After the program is completed, the furnace temperature must be naturally cooled to below 300 ℃ before opening the furnace door.
② It is strictly prohibited to open the furnace door under high temperature conditions. Sudden influx of cold air can cause the furnace and heating elements to crack due to rapid cooling, resulting in damage.
③ Use crucible pliers to remove the sample and place it on a high-temperature resistant table to continue cooling.
2. Cleaning and maintenance:
① After the furnace has completely cooled down, use a soft bristled brush or vacuum cleaner to carefully clean the debris and condensed volatile matter inside the furnace.
② Regularly check the sealing of the furnace door. Poor sealing can lead to heat loss and a decrease in temperature field uniformity.
③ When not in use for a long time, the power should be cut off to keep the furnace dry and clean.
Safety Warning:
1. High temperature warning: During equipment operation and immediately after completion, the surface and interior of the furnace are in an abnormally high temperature state. Do not touch with your hands or any part of your body to prevent burns.
2. Wear protective equipment: High temperature resistant gloves, goggles, and lab coats must be worn during operation.
3. Exception handling: In case of power outage, the controller switch should be immediately turned off. After the call, it is necessary to recheck and set up the program.
By following this regulation, you will be able to safely and efficiently utilize high-temperature box type experimental furnaces for scientific research, and greatly ensure personal and equipment safety.
