What is the difference between a blast drying oven and a far-infrared drying oven?
Date: 2022-04-13Read: 0

drying ovenThere are many classifications, although they are similar in nature and are all used for drying, their usage scenarios are different. Ordinary drying can be done using a blast drying oven, while vacuum drying ovens are mostly used for powder drying and need to be used in conjunction with a vacuum pump. High temperature blast drying ovens are required for use at high temperatures, and there is also a far-infrared drying oven, which is slightly less commonly used than other types. So, some users may not be clear about the difference between a blast drying oven and a far-infrared drying oven. What are the specific differences? What are the specific purposes?

Blast drying oven vs far-infrared drying oven

Heating speed: The heating speed of far-infrared is much faster than that of a blast drying oven, and the corresponding power consumption is also higher;

Heating method: The far-infrared oven heats up through an infrared heating plate, while the blast drying oven works by matching an electric heating wire with a strong convection blower motor;

Structural difference: The far-infrared drying oven does not have a blower system, but the blower drying oven does;

Accessory wear and tear: Far infrared drying ovens have higher requirements for instruments, which will correspondingly shorten their service life;

Usage scenario: Far infrared ovens are suitable for crystalline powders or substances with crystalline water, while blast drying ovens are not suitable for drying powder samples due to air blowing;

What's the difference besides drying? Are there any requirements for the objects to be dried separately?

Far infrared can directly act on the moisture inside a substance without the need for air flow. The air is heated in a blast drying oven, and the air is circulated to achieve thermal equilibrium. The dried hot air uses the moisture inside the substance to overflow and achieve the purpose of drying.

The above is the difference between the two. If the heating requirements are not too high, choosing a blast drying oven is more suitable. In addition, a switch for the blower can be installed in the blast drying oven, but we do not recommend doing so. Turning off the blower during operation may damage the drying oven and may affect the temperature display and instruments. Since there is a far-infrared drying oven, will there be a ultraviolet drying oven? This is not common, UV is mostly used for sterilization. Proper use and selection can make the experiment progress smoothly.
