Diagnosis and Troubleshooting Guide for Common Malfunctions of Electric Water Bath Pot: From Temperature Loss to Water Leakage
Date: 2025-11-17Read: 3
As a commonly used laboratory equipment, the stability of electric water bath directly affects the experimental results. The following are the diagnosis and troubleshooting methods for common faults, covering the two core issues of temperature runaway and water leakage.
1、 Temperature out of control
Unable to heat up
Phenomenon: After setting the temperature, there is no change in the water temperature.
Diagnosis:
Check if the power cord is securely plugged in and if the fuse is blown.
Set the temperature higher than the actual water temperature and observe if the temperature controller has an output indication. If there is, measure the voltage input of the heating tube; If not, check if the relay is damaged.
If the temperature controller has no output, it needs to be replaced; If there is no voltage input to the heating tube, it is mostly a relay fault.
Case: A water bath in a laboratory was unable to heat due to poor contact with a relay. After replacing the relay, it returned to normal.
Uncontrolled temperature or overheating
Phenomenon: The water temperature continues to rise or fluctuates greatly.
Diagnosis:
Relay damage or sensor moisture can cause abnormal signal transmission.
The sensor is open or short circuited, and the temperature controller displays "LLL" or "HHH".
Solution: Replace the relay or sensor and check for water leakage at the sensor connection.
2、 Water leakage issue
Leakage at the connection point
Phenomenon: Water droplets are leaking out from the bottom or side of the water bath.
Diagnosis:
Sealing failure at the connection between the heating tube and the tank body, or leakage at the stainless steel pipe joint of the temperature sensor.
Solution: Tighten the screws, replace the sealing gasket or tape, re wrap and ensure sealing.
Damage to the tank body
Phenomenon: Cracks or perforations appear in the inner pot of the water bath.
Diagnosis: Long term use or falling can cause corrosion or damage to the inner liner.
Solution: Immediately stop using and replace with new equipment to avoid the risk of electrical leakage.
3、 Daily maintenance suggestions
Cleaning and maintenance: After each use, drain the water and wipe the inner container with a soft cloth to avoid the accumulation of scale.
Water level management: Ensure that the water level is above the heating tube to prevent dry burning and damage to components.
Regular inspection: Check the status of power cords, relays, and sensors monthly, and replace aging components in a timely manner.
