Hydrogen oxygen type strong alkaline resin for removing chloride ions

Hydroxide type strong alkaline ion exchange resin can effectively remove chloride ions from solution. This type of resin is usually synthesized using sodium hydroxide (NaOH) as a catalyst and has high alkalinity.

The following is the working principle of hydroxide type strong alkaline ion exchange resin for removing chloride ions from solution:

  1. Adsorption: The surface of the hydroxide type strong alkaline resin contains hydroxide ions (OH -), which have strong alkalinity and can undergo ion exchange with chloride ions in the solution. When chloride ions in the solution come into contact with the resin surface, they exchange with hydroxide ions in the resin and are adsorbed onto the resin surface.

  2. Release: When the adsorption sites on the resin surface are saturated, the resin needs to be regenerated. The regeneration process involves passing a strong alkaline solution (such as sodium hydroxide solution) through a resin bed, allowing the hydroxide ions in the solution to exchange with the adsorbed chloride ions on the resin. In this way, the chloride ions on the surface of the resin are released, and the resin regains its ability to adsorb chloride ions.

Chloride ions in the solution can be removed through the adsorption and release of hydroxide type strong alkaline ion exchange resin. This has important applications in water treatment, drinking water production, and industrial chemical processes, especially when removing chloride ions to improve water quality, prevent chlorine related reactions, or protect equipment.
