In recent years, with the acceleration of global climate change and urbanization, the problem of eutrophication in water bodies has become increasingly serious, and the proliferation of algae has led to the pollution of odorants (such as geosmin, 2-methylisoborneol, etc.) and algal toxins in drinking water sources and aquaculture. These odorants not only affect the sensory characteristics of drinking water and pose a threat to fishery products, but may also pose a potential threat to human health. Therefore, researching and applying advanced odor detection and prevention technologies has become an important issue in ensuring the safety of drinking water. In order to fully discuss the source, detection method, removal technology, prevention and control strategies and other core issues of odor substances, the "2025 Seminar on Accurate Detection and Comprehensive Prevention and Control of Odor in Urban Water Supply System" and "2025 International Water Association (IWA) Seminar on Odor and Algotoxins in Drinking Water Sources and Aquaculture", jointly sponsored by the Ecological Environment Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai National Engineering Center for Urban Water Resources Development and Utilization, Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology, Zhejiang University, and organized by Shanghai Water Purification Technology Magazine, are scheduled to be held from August 28 to September 1, 2025.
