The content of free formaldehyde in cosmetics is determined by post column derivatization liquid chromatography. This method is applicable to the determination of free formaldehyde content in water, cream lotion and gel cosmetics.

Instrument: Liquid chromatograph, equipped with a full wavelength ultraviolet detector and PCR3 post column derivatizer.

The recovery rate is 95.3% to 112.5%, with a relative standard deviation of less than 10%
