Temperature regulating electric heating sleeveIt is a commonly used heating tool in laboratories and small-scale production. With its characteristics of "precise temperature control, safe operation, and wide applicability", it has become a "caring assistant" for heating liquids and reaction vessels. For beginners, mastering the quick start guide and standardized operation steps can not only improve efficiency but also avoid common errors.
Step 1: Get to know your electric heating kit
Temperature regulating electric heating sleeveIt usually consists of three parts: heating body (including electric heating wire and insulation layer), adjustable temperature controller (knob/digital display screen), and temperature sensor (usually thermocouple). The main material is mostly fiberglass or silicone, with electric heating wire wrapped inside and high-temperature resistant insulation material (such as asbestos or mica board) wrapped on the outer layer to ensure safe insulation; The controller is used to set the target temperature (commonly ranging from room temperature to 400 ℃), while the temperature sensor monitors the actual temperature of the heated object (such as a flask) in real time and provides feedback for adjustment. Novices need to first check whether the accessories are complete (such as power cord, manual, temperature probe), and confirm the applicable container size corresponding to the electric heating jacket model (such as ordinary temperature regulating type/digital intelligent type) (usually suitable for 50mL~5000mL flasks).
Step 2: Installation and Preparation
Before operation, it is necessary to ensure environmental safety: place it on a stable and heat-resistant table (away from flammable materials), and check whether the power supply voltage (usually 220V/50Hz) matches the rated voltage of the electric heating sleeve. Place the container that needs to be heated (such as a round bottom flask) in the center of the electric heating jacket, ensuring that the bottom of the container is in full contact with the heating area (poor contact can cause local overheating). If it is a digital display type, the temperature sensor probe should be tightly attached to the outer wall of the container (usually fixed with a clamp) to accurately monitor the temperature; Although the ordinary knob type does not have an independent sensor, it can be adjusted through experience. Attention: It is strictly prohibited to burn empty (i.e. directly power on the container without placing it), otherwise it may damage the heating wire or cause a fire!

Step 3: Adjust the temperature
Ordinary knob type electric heating sleeve: Set the approximate gear (such as 1-10 gears, the higher the number, the higher the temperature) by rotating the "temperature adjustment knob". It is recommended to start from the low gear (such as 3 gears), observe the heating rate of the liquid (such as water) in the container, and gradually adjust the gear to the desired temperature (such as 60 ℃). This type relies on experience and is suitable for scenarios that do not require high temperature accuracy, such as simple dissolution and insulation.
Digital display intelligent electric heating sleeve: Input the target temperature (such as 80 ℃) through the "setting key+▲▼ key", press "confirm", and the electric heating sleeve will automatically heat up and provide real-time feedback through the sensor. When the temperature approaches the set value, the power of the heating wire decreases and enters the "constant temperature maintenance" state (the screen displays real-time temperature, with a fluctuation range usually ± 2 ℃~± 5 ℃). Newcomers suggest setting a lower temperature (such as 50 ℃) for testing, familiarizing themselves with the constant temperature effect before adjusting to the target value.
Step 4: Heating process monitoring and shutdown
During heating, it is necessary to observe the entire process: whether the liquid is boiling (to avoid overflow), whether the container is tilted (poor contact), and whether the controller is abnormal (such as odor or smoke). If the digital display shows "over temperature alarm" (usually due to sensor failure or high setting), immediately power off and check. After reaching the target temperature, if continuous insulation is required, the current setting can be maintained; If the experiment is over, first lower the gear (or set the low temperature), wait for the container temperature to drop to a safe range (such as<50 ℃), then turn off the power, and finally unplug the plug. Attention: Do not directly unplug the plug and immediately touch the electric heating sleeve after power failure (the shell may have residual heat)!
Common problem reminder: If the electric heating sleeve does not heat up, check if the power is connected and if the knob is set to high temperature mode; If the temperature fluctuates greatly, it may be due to poor contact of the sensor (re fixing the probe) or improper placement of the container; If you smell a burnt smell, immediately turn off the power - it may be a local short circuit in the heating wire, and contact after-sales maintenance for repair.
