Operation suggestions for disposable cell applicators
Date: 2025-09-18Read: 1
Disposable cell applicatorIt is a commonly used tool in microbiology and cell culture experiments, used to evenly coat cells or bacteria on the surface of the culture medium.
  Disposable cell applicatorAdvantages:
1. Aseptic design: Typically, sterile packaging is used and sterilized with gamma rays or ethylene oxide to ensure the absence of DNA enzymes, RNA enzymes, pyrogens, and endotoxins, which can reduce the risk of experimental contamination.
2. Easy to operate: No need for repeated sterilization and cleaning, can be used directly, saving experimental preparation time. Its L-shaped design is easy to operate, and the head of the coating rod is smooth, which will not scratch the surface of the agar and can evenly coat cells or bacteria.
3. Excellent Material: Generally made of high-quality materials such as polystyrene (PS), polypropylene (PP), or polyethylene (PE), it is durable and will not have any adverse effects on cells or bacteria.
4. Independent packaging: It often uses independent paper and plastic packaging for easy storage and transportation, ensuring that it is sterile every time it is used.
5. Economical: Compared with traditional glass coating rods, there is no need for repeated sterilization and cleaning, reducing equipment wear and labor costs, and also lowering experimental repetition costs caused by pollution.
Operation suggestion:
1. Aseptic operation: The entire process is carried out on an ultra clean workbench or near the flame of an alcohol lamp to avoid external contamination.
2. Coating technique:
Maintain appropriate speed and force during coating, and rotate the culture dish to assist in uniform distribution.
Avoid overheating the applicator and contact it with the cell suspension to prevent cell damage.
3. Parameter optimization: Adjust the coating area based on cell concentration, and expand the coating range for high concentration cells to prevent colony overlap.
