Installation matters of Milton Roy metering pump
Date: 2014-10-23Read: 12

Common Faults

1) Abnormal suction of metering pump

Rotate to the 100% stroke length position. This can rotate the entire set of components until the back plate leakage discharge hole aligns with the bottom end of the pump. Adjust the hydraulic end and diaphragm to the proper position during the operation of the pump.

For reaction time, the pulse duration may not be long enough. Compared to the standard pulse width of 80msec, the flow monitor pulse width extension can be activated, increasing the pulse width to 300msec. Activate the intelligent conversion switch, remove the protective cover of the fixed circuit board, and remove jumper X-1. This activates the extended function, allowing more time before the fault indication.

Milton Roy metering pumpInstall the self exhaust pump head and use a self priming suction system. Keep the suction line as short as possible.

2) Replace the diaphragm of the metering pump

We often encounter difficulties when removing old diaphragms. Provide some additional suggestions on how to remove the old diaphragm.

1. After the pump head is loose, adjust the stroke length to 10% before removing the pump head. It can ensure that the electromagnetic shaft has sufficient pressure to maintain a stable connection, so that the diaphragm can be unscrewed.

2. Pull the hydraulic end outward to detach the screw from the socket. Grasp the liquid end and rotate counterclockwise. If there is a slight resistance, you can unscrew the diaphragm.

The measured chemicals may crystallize at the hydraulic end, causing the one-way valve ball and seat to malfunction.

There may be gas leakage at the suction end of the metering pump. The hydraulic end suction side connection may lack an O-ring or the suction valve connection may be loose.

3) What can be done to solve the problem of receiving a flow fault indication signal during the liquid introduction process when measuring a high viscosity medium with flow monitoring?

Move the hydraulic end by loosening the 4 pump head screws. Rotate the stroke length to 10% and grasp the hydraulic end, then slide out from the screw hole, so that the screws do not come into contact with them, but still hold the back plate and diaphragm. Then rotate this component counterclockwise, with a slight resistance, and the diaphragm will loosen from the electromagnetic shaft. If the diaphragm has not loosened yet, use some lubricating oil on the contact surface between the diaphragm and the electromagnetic shaft. After leaving it for a few minutes, gently tap the diaphragm with a plastic hammer. Then proceed again according to the above description.

4) How to prevent the stroke positioning motor of the metering pump from burning out?

1. Remove the 4 screws that secure the pump head. The screw is located on the back of the metering pump.

2. Check if the drain pipe is installed and the drain valve is closed? The discharge valve needs to be opened during the liquid introduction stage of the metering pump. Note: Not all metering pumps have drain valves.

After the diaphragm installation is completed and the leakage discharge hole of the back plate is placed in a vertical position, install the pump head. Ensure that the suction valve is aligned with the leakage discharge hole, and the screws on the hydraulic end are aligned with the corresponding 4 holes.

5)Milton Roy metering pumpHas the traffic decreased or become inaccurate?

1. Unscrew the vent valve in the three valves.

2. Fully replenish oil through the oil replenishment valve.
