What are the key points to consider when choosing a steady flow valve
Date: 2025-07-22Read: 53
Steady flow valve is a key component in fluid control systems, used to stabilize flow and pressure in pipelines or equipment, and is widely used in industries, laboratories, healthcare, environmental protection, and other fields. When choosing a steady flow valve, it is necessary to consider multiple factors such as technical parameters, material compatibility, usage environment, and cost-effectiveness. Starting from the core points, the following provides a detailed analysis of the selection strategy for steady flow valves.
1、 Clear technical parameters: match actual needs
1. Flow and pressure range
-Flow demand: Select the rated flow rate of the steady flow valve based on the maximum flow rate and normal operating flow rate of the system. For example, industrial pipelines need to calculate peak flow rates, while laboratory equipment needs to accurately match micro flow requirements.
-Pressure range: The pressure bearing capacity of the valve should cover the maximum working pressure of the system and leave a margin (usually 1.5 times the safety factor). Pay attention to distinguishing between "work pressure" and "burst pressure" to avoid the risk of overpressure.
-Accuracy requirement: The flow control accuracy of the steady flow valve directly affects the stability of the system. In laboratory scenarios, the error is usually required to be ≤ ± 1%, while in industrial scenarios, it can be relaxed to ± 5%.
2. Adjusting characteristics and response speed
-Adjustment method: Manual adjustment valve relies on manual operation and is suitable for stable working conditions; Automatic regulating valves (such as electric and pneumatic) can achieve remote control or dynamic response, suitable for systems with large fluctuations.
-Response speed: High speed response valves (such as electromagnetic drive) are suitable for transient flow control, while hydraulic or mechanical drive valves are more suitable for continuous steady flow.
3. Applicable medium and temperature
-Medium type: Select valve materials and sealing structures based on fluid properties. For example, conventional media such as water and air can choose ordinary stainless steel; Corrosive media (such as acids and bases) require coating with Hastelloy or Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE); High viscosity fluids (such as oils) need to optimize the valve core structure to prevent blockage.
-Temperature range: The temperature resistance of the valve material needs to match the temperature of the medium. Ordinary carbon steel or stainless steel can be selected for normal temperature conditions, heat-resistant steel or ceramic materials are required for high temperatures (>200 ℃), and brittle fracture prevention is required for low temperatures (<-50 ℃).
2、 Material and corrosion resistance: ensuring long-term reliability
1. Valve body material
-Metal material: Stainless steel (304/316) is suitable for most water, gas, and weakly corrosive media; Copper alloy is suitable for cold water systems; Titanium alloys or nickel based alloys are used in highly corrosive environments.
-Non metallic materials: PVC, PP and other plastic valves have low cost, but poor temperature resistance (usually<60 ℃); Fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) is suitable for chemical pipelines with acid-base alternation.
2. Sealing material
-Static sealing: O-rings or gaskets need to be compatible with the medium, such as nitrile rubber (oil resistant), fluororubber (acid and alkali resistant), and silicone rubber (high temperature resistant).
-Dynamic sealing: The friction surface between the valve core and the valve seat needs to be hardened (such as welded with Stellite alloy) or self-lubricating materials (such as polyimide) should be used.
3. Surface treatment
-Electroplating, sandblasting, passivation and other processes can enhance corrosion resistance. For example, the passivation of 316 stainless steel significantly enhances its resistance to chloride ion corrosion.
3、 Installation and maintenance: reduce usage costs
1. Connection method
-Threaded connection: suitable for small-diameter pipelines (below DN50), easy to install but limited in pressure resistance.
-Flange connection: Suitable for medium to large diameter (DN50 or above) or high-pressure systems, attention should be paid to matching flange standards (GB, ANSI, etc.).
-Quick connect: Used in frequent disassembly and assembly occasions (such as laboratories), but with low pressure resistance.
2. Maintain convenience
-Structural design: Prioritize the use of straight through valve bodies to reduce fluid resistance; The valve core can be disassembled, cleaned or replaced to avoid overall scrap.
-Filtering device: The pre filter can prevent impurities from clogging and extend the service life of the valve.
-Fault diagnosis: Valves with indicator windows or pressure gauges facilitate real-time monitoring of status.
4、 Environmental and safety considerations
1. Working environment
-Temperature and humidity: High temperature environments require heat dissipation design (such as with heat sinks), while humid environments require rust prevention treatment (such as nickel plating).
-Vibration and impact: Seismic resistant valves (such as those with spring compensation structures) should be selected for industrial sites.
-Explosion proof requirements: Explosion proof stabilizing valves (certified Ex d IIC T4 or above) must be selected in flammable and explosive places.
2. Security authentication
-General certifications: ISO 9001 (Quality System), API 6D (Petroleum and Natural Gas Industry), etc.
-Special certification: Drinking water systems require NSF certification, and medical devices require FDA or RoHS compliance.
5、 Brand and cost-effectiveness: Balancing quality and cost
1. Brand selection
-International brands such as HEROSE from Germany, Parker from the United States, CKD from Japan, with mature technology but high prices, suitable for industrial scenarios.
-Domestic brands such as Shanghai Guanlong and Tianjin Watters have high cost-effectiveness and stable performance under normal working conditions.
-Avoid low-quality products: Poor quality valves may leak, deform, or contaminate the medium due to substandard materials.
2. Cost assessment
-Initial investment: High precision or special material valves have high costs, but long service life, low maintenance, and are more economical in the long run.
-Alternative solution: If the budget is limited, priority can be given to ensuring key parameters (such as pressure levels), and non core components can be selected as basic models.
