Q-Sense E4 is a real-time analytical instrument for detecting molecular reaction mechanisms adsorbed on surfaces. E4 can measure changes in the molecular layer when there are changes in the surface quality or structure of the sensor. The Q-Sense E4 device plays a crucial role in research in the fields of materials, proteins, and surfactants.
Q-Sense E4 provides a complete solution from quick instrument entry to high-quality data analysis. The instrument has four flow modules, each equipped with a sensor, which can perform four parallel tests. Multiple optional modules, such as electrochemical QCM-D, can be used for combination testing. The Q-Sense E4 device is based on an extremely sensitive and fast technology, a quartz crystal microbalance (QCM-D) with dissipation factor detection. The core of this device is that the sensor oscillates at a specific frequency under the action of the applied voltage. When the mass on the sensor changes, its oscillation frequency will also change accordingly (1). Disconnecting the circuit will cause oscillation attenuation. The attenuation rate or dissipation factor is related to the viscoelasticity of the molecular layer on the sensor (2). By measuring frequency and dissipation, QCM-D can analyze the molecular layer state adsorbed on the sensor surface, including mass, thickness, and structural properties (viscoelasticity).
