Temperature measurement technology of online infrared temperature detector
Date: 2025-12-12Read: 5
The temperature measurement technology of online infrared temperature detector is a non-contact temperature measurement method widely used in industrial, medical, security, environmental monitoring and other fields. The infrared temperature detector uses the infrared radiation emitted by an object to measure its temperature, without the need for direct contact with the object being measured, and has the characteristics of speed, accuracy, and non-destructive testing.
Principle of Infrared Temperature Detection
The infrared temperature detector calculates the temperature based on the infrared radiation energy emitted by the object. According to Stefan Boltzmann's law and Planck's radiation law, all objects with temperatures above absolute zero will emit infrared radiation, and the intensity of the radiation is proportional to the temperature of the object. The infrared temperature detector receives the infrared radiation energy emitted by an object, and then calculates the temperature of the object based on the relationship between the radiation intensity and the surface temperature of the object.
Key Technologies for Infrared Temperature Detection
Infrared sensor (thermopile/thermocouple)
Infrared sensors are the core components of infrared temperature detectors, and common sensors include thermopile sensors, thermocouple sensors, and mercury cadmium telluride (HgCdTe) detectors. The working principle and sensitivity of different sensors are different.
Thermopile sensor: Thermopile is composed of multiple thermocouple elements, which can generate voltage signals at different temperatures and obtain the temperature of the target object through signal conversion. This type of sensor is suitable for detection over a wide temperature range and has high accuracy.
Thermocouple sensor: Through the thermoelectric effect, thermocouples can convert thermal energy into electrical energy to detect temperature changes. Thermocouple sensors have a short response time and are suitable for dynamic temperature measurement.
Mercury cadmium telluride detector: This type of detector has higher sensitivity and is suitable for use in low-temperature, long-distance infrared temperature measurement, but the cost is relatively high.
Optical lenses and filters
In order to accurately receive infrared radiation within a specific wavelength range, infrared temperature detectors are usually equipped with optical lenses and filters. The lens can focus infrared radiation onto the detector, improving its reception efficiency, while the filter can filter out the effective wavelength range and remove unnecessary interference radiation.
Emissivity
Emissivity refers to the ratio of the surface radiation ability of an object, and objects of different materials have different emissivity. The temperature measurement accuracy of infrared temperature detectors is affected by emissivity. Generally speaking, the emissivity of black objects is close to 1, while smooth and highly reflective objects have lower emissivity (such as metals). To ensure accurate measurement, many infrared temperature detectors have emissivity adjustment function, which can be set according to the material of the measured object.
Calibration and temperature compensation
Infrared temperature measurement is affected by environmental temperature, light source interference, and sensor performance changes, therefore regular calibration is required. By comparing the standard heat source, the accuracy of the detection instrument can be ensured. At the same time, some instruments also automatically perform temperature compensation in different working environments to improve measurement accuracy.
Data processing and temperature calculation
The infrared radiation signal received by the infrared sensor is amplified and filtered, and then digitized by the processor to convert it into temperature data. Modern infrared temperature detectors usually integrate microprocessors with real-time data calculation and display functions. Some high-end instruments also support data storage and remote monitoring.
Measure distance and field of view angle (D: S)
The relationship between measuring distance and field of view is an important technical indicator of infrared temperature detectors. Usually expressed as "D: S" (Distance: SpotSize), the larger the ratio, the more accurately the instrument can measure smaller targets at a greater distance. A higher D: S ratio is suitable for long-distance temperature measurement.
Temperature range and response time
Temperature range: The measurement range of an infrared temperature detector is usually from -50 ° C to over 1000 ° C, and the appropriate instrument should be selected according to the application requirements.
Response time: The response time of an infrared temperature detector determines its ability to measure dynamic temperature changes. High precision instruments have shorter response times and can quickly obtain temperature data.
Application of Online Infrared Temperature Detection
industrial applications
Equipment malfunction monitoring: During the operation of mechanical equipment, the surface temperature of the equipment is monitored in real time through an infrared temperature detector, and overheating problems are detected in a timely manner to prevent equipment malfunctions.
Furnace temperature monitoring: In environments such as high-temperature furnaces and incinerators, online infrared temperature detectors can monitor furnace temperature changes in real time, ensuring the safety and stability of the production process.
Quality control: Online temperature monitoring can be used for quality control on the production line to ensure that the temperature of each product or production process is within the appropriate range.
power industry
Substation equipment monitoring: Infrared temperature detectors can be used for temperature monitoring of substation equipment (such as transformers, cables, switches, etc.) to help detect the temperature rise of electrical equipment and avoid safety issues such as fires caused by overheating.
environmental monitoring
Water quality monitoring: In water monitoring, infrared temperature detectors can be used to detect changes in water temperature, helping to determine the water quality status. If the temperature is too high, it may lead to a decrease in dissolved oxygen content, affecting the survival of aquatic organisms.
Climate monitoring: By monitoring changes in environmental temperature, infrared temperature detectors provide data support for research on climate change, urban heat island effect, etc.
Medical applications
Temperature detection: Especially in the field of public health, infrared temperature detectors can be used to quickly measure human body temperature, especially in large-scale population temperature screening, with advantages such as convenience, efficiency, and non-contact.
Optimization plan and technological progress
Improving resolution and accuracy: With the continuous advancement of infrared technology, the introduction of new high-resolution detectors and intelligent algorithms enables infrared temperature detectors to provide higher precision measurement results.
Multi functional integration: Some infrared temperature detectors are combined with other sensors (such as humidity, gas concentration, etc.) to form a multi parameter monitoring system, which enhances the scalability of their application fields.
Intelligence and remote monitoring: Modern infrared temperature detectors increasingly support wireless data transmission, remote monitoring, and data analysis. Users can view temperature data, generate reports, and issue fault warnings through cloud platforms.
In short, the temperature measurement technology of online infrared temperature detectors is gradually becoming more intelligent, efficient, and accurate through continuous development. With the further improvement of technology, future infrared temperature detectors will play an important role in more fields.
