Yi Yuntian tells you: the core detection range of combustible gas detectors
Date: 2025-12-08Read: 1

Combustible gas detector is a safety device used for industrial safety, environmental monitoring, and daily life. It is used to monitor the concentration of combustible gases in the air in real time and prevent fire and explosion accidents. Its detection range is wide, covering various flammable and explosive gases. So you knowCombustible gas detectorWhat gas is being detected? Below is the sharing from the editor of Yiyuntian Electronics.

1、 Common types of combustible gases

The combustible gas detector mainly detects gases that can mix with air and explode when exposed to a fire source within a certain concentration range. These gases include but are not limited to:

Alkane gases: such as methane (the main component of natural gas), ethane, propane, butane, etc. They are widely used in household gas, industrial fuel, and chemical raw materials.

Alcohols and ethers, such as methanol, ethanol, ethylene glycol, methyl ether, etc., are commonly used in solvents, fuels, and chemical production.

Aromatic hydrocarbons and halogenated hydrocarbons, such as benzene, toluene, xylene, vinyl chloride, etc., are commonly used in the manufacturing of paints, coatings, and plastics.

Other organic compounds, such as acetone, butanone, gasoline, diesel, etc., are widely used as industrial solvents and fuels.

Hydrogen: colorless and odorless, with extremely low explosion limit, commonly used in chemical synthesis and fuel cell fields.

2、 Detection range and alarm threshold

The detection range of combustible gas detectors is usually measured in units of lower explosive limit (LEL). The general detection range is 0-100% LEL. When the concentration exceeds 25% LEL, a low alarm is issued, and when it exceeds 50% LEL, a high alarm is issued to remind personnel to take timely measures.

Overall, combustible gas detectors can detect various combustible gases, including alkanes, alcohols, aromatic hydrocarbons, etc. They have a wide range of applications and are important tools for ensuring industrial safety and household life. Through reasonable selection and standardized use, combustible gas detectors can effectively prevent safety accidents caused by gas leaks, providing solid protection for people's lives and property safety.
