New product launch of Yokogawa DLM5058HD oscilloscope
Date: 2023-08-09Read: 18

Yokogawa releases DLM5000HD series high-definition oscilloscope
-Support the development of next-generation power electronics products in the automotive and other application fields

500 MHz DLM5058HD and 350 MHz DLM5058HD) and two 4-channel models (500 MHz DLM5054HD and 350 MHz DLM5034HD)

Yokogawa announced the launch of the DLM5000HD series high-resolution oscilloscope. As a high-performance version of the DLM5000 series, the DLM5000HD series expands Yokogawa's oscilloscope lineup, providing higher resolution for 500 MHz and 350 MHz frequency bandwidth models, enabling more accurate waveform analysis, and improving usability and ease of setup.

Development Background

The DLM4000 series 8-channel mixed signal oscilloscope released by Yokogawa Corporation in 2012 and the subsequent DLM5000 series oscilloscope launched in 2020 have been well received and praised by electronic and mechatronics equipment developers. However, given the increasing emphasis on measures that contribute to social decarbonization in recent years, the energy efficiency requirements for motors, inverters, and clean energy related products (such as solar power generation equipment) are also becoming higher. This demand is particularly prominent in the power electronics industry, and the growth in the application and production of new generation power devices such as silicon carbide (SiC) technology has driven the demand for higher measurement accuracy. The DLM5000HD series supports multi-channel measurement and improves the resolution of the vertical axis, thus meeting these requirements.

Main functions

The TDLM5000HD series includes two 8-channel models (500 MHz DLM5058HD and 350 MHz DLM5058HD) and two 4-channel models (500 MHz DLM5054HD and 350 MHz DLM5034HD).

The vertical resolution of the DLM5000HD series is 12 bits, which is 16 times higher than the existing DLM5000 series, thereby improving the accuracy of waveform observation. This is particularly advantageous for developers of next-generation inverters, as they can accurately observe small changes in high-speed signals through DLM5000HD, thereby capturing unexpected phenomena that may cause abnormalities.

Another practical feature of the DLM5000HD series is the time-saving and labor-saving serial bus automatic setting function, which automatically sets the appropriate baud rate and threshold level for the corresponding serial bus. This feature can now also be used for previously captured waveforms. This means that the automatic setting function can even be used for low-frequency signals, thereby improving the efficiency of vehicle bus development and evaluation work.

The DLM5000HD series can store up to 1G points of collected data, which is twice that of the DLM5000 series. This allows users to store up to 200000 historical data of collected waveforms as historical waveforms. In addition to doubling the number of searchable and comparable waveforms using long storage, it also means that one device can measure the behavior of braking systems and other devices that require capturing milliseconds at a high sampling rate, thereby improving the efficiency of evaluation and analysis work.

Like the DLM5000 series, by using the dual unit synchronous measurement (DLMsync) function to control two 8-channel units, up to 16 analog channels and 64 bit logic (8 8-bit logic channels) measurement data can be collected. This allows for simultaneous measurement of multiple analog and logic signals, such as analyzing a large number of switch timings when debugging electronic control units.

* The historical waveform is automatically recorded in the internal memory.
