Microcoulometric analyzer is a high-precision analytical instrument based on electrochemical principles
Date: 2025-11-25Read: 1
Microcoulometric analyzer is a high-precision analytical instrument based on electrochemical principles, widely used in fields such as environmental monitoring, chemical engineering, and pharmaceuticals.
1. Core components: The instrument mainly consists of a titration cell (electrolytic cell), an amplifier, and an integrator. The titration cell contains electrolyte solution and two pairs of electrodes - one pair is the indicator electrode and reference electrode, and the other pair is the working electrode and auxiliary electrode.
2. Electrochemical reaction process: When the measured substance enters the titration cell, it will trigger a specific electrochemical reaction. For example, when measuring the chloride ion content, chloride ions in the solution will undergo redox reactions on the working electrode. As the reaction progresses, the indicator electrode pair will detect changes in ion concentration in the solution and transmit this signal to the Coulomb amplifier.
3. Signal amplification and feedback: The Coulomb amplifier receives signal changes from the indicator electrode and outputs corresponding currents to the electrolysis electrode pair to maintain a constant concentration of electroactive substances in the electrolyte. This process ensures that the reaction can proceed continuously and quantitatively.
4. Electricity measurement and calculation: According to Faraday's law, by accurately measuring the amount of electricity consumed during the electrolysis process (i.e. Coulomb number), the amount of substances involved in the reaction can be calculated, thereby determining the content of the tested component in the sample.

Precautions for using microcoulometry analyzer:
1. Environmental and safety regulations
-Temperature and humidity control: maintain stable laboratory environment, avoid high temperature or sudden changes affecting instrument sensitivity and data repeatability; At the same time, ensure good ventilation and eliminate the risk of harmful gas accumulation.
-Electromagnetic protection: Each component of the instrument needs to be independently grounded and wired separately from high-power equipment (such as cracking furnaces) to prevent mutual interference.
-Personal protection: Wear gloves, goggles and other equipment when handling toxic reagents (such as sodium azide), and handle explosive substances with caution; Immediately shut down for maintenance in case of malfunction, and prevent operation with defects.
2. Optimization of operational details
-Flow management: Adjust the test gas from small to large first. When shutting down, directly close the main valve of the steel cylinder instead of just using a needle valve to intercept the flow, in order to prevent residual pressure from impacting the system.
-Electrolytic cell maintenance: When installing the titration cell, ensure that there are no bubbles in the side arms and that the platinum electrode is placed parallel; Regularly clean sediment to prevent blockages from affecting response speed.
-Heating strip inspection: Before measuring the total chlorine, confirm that the heating strip is working properly, and the no-load AC voltage should be maintained in the range of 15-20V.
3. Long term maintenance strategy
-Regular calibration: Verify the accuracy of the instrument periodically through standard reference materials, with particular attention to drift issues after long-term use; Timely replace aging components to ensure stable performance.
-Battery monitoring: If using a portable power supply mode, it is necessary to regularly check the battery status to prevent data loss caused by sudden power outages.
