Why use an ore grade tester to test ore?
Date: 2019-10-26Read: 1
Through ore detection, we can know that ores are actually a collection of various minerals. In the earth's crust, there are very few ores in the form of natural metals, and a large amount of ores exist in the form of oxidized ores, ores, and sulfide ores. So, this requires ore mining companies to conduct testing to determine whether it has commercial mining value, and then extract relevant mineral elements from the minerals. Although China is a major producer of ores, some ore varieties still need to be imported in large quantities. These ores are usually in large quantities, with high value and short weight rates. Moreover, if there are quality problems, it is difficult to claim compensation. So this brings challenges to the early stage of ore quality inspection and testing work, and how to accurately complete the ore quality testing work has become a topic of concern for many parties. Today, we will analyze the detection methods of ores from five major aspects.
1. Chemical composition analysis of ore
Mainly analyzing trace and impurity elements in metals, alloys, metal compound materials, plastics, pharmaceuticals, food, and biological products, as well as analyzing C, H, O, N, and S elements in metal materials. Conventional element quantitative analysis mainly detects the content of elements such as carbon C, sulfur S, silicon Si, manganese Mn, phosphorus P, nickel Ni, chromium Cr, copper Cu, magnesium Mg, calcium Ca, iron Fe, titanium, zinc Zn, lead Pb, cadmium Cd, bismuth Bi, arsenic As, antimony Sb, sodium Na, potassium K, aluminum Al, etc.
2. Analysis of Ore Organizational Structure
To meet the needs of microstructure analysis of ore materials, equipment such as high-pressure transmission electron microscopy (HEHVEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), thermal field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), analytical electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometer, metallographic microscope, etc. are used.
3. Mineral mechanical performance testing
Universal testing equipment, such as material testing machines, creep testing machines, impact testing machines, low cycle fatigue testing machines, stress corrosion testing machines, Brinell hardness testing machines, Rockwell hardness testers, and Vickers hardness values, can be used for tensile testing, process performance testing, physical performance testing, hardness testing, impact testing, fatigue testing, creep testing, durability testing, relaxation testing, and related mechanical performance testing, providing analysis of the mechanical properties of ores. Provide testing services for ore research units and quality inspections for ore production enterprises.
4. Surface performance testing of ore
Surface performance testing equipment such as scanning electron microscopy, secondary ion mass spectrometer, infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, etc. can meet the needs of performance testing such as ore thickness, adhesion, salt spray corrosion resistance, wear resistance, etc. This has reference value for the research of ore surface microstructure, chemical composition, mineral particles, etc.
5. Non destructive testing of ores
Through analytical instruments such as X-ray fluorescence spectrometer, electron probe, and scanning electron microscope, rapid non-destructive testing can be performed on jewelry such as gold, silver, platinum, palladium, etc. In many cases, metal materials, rare earth metals and compounds, rare earth functional materials, non-ferrous metallurgy and mineral processing products, and environmentally friendly products also require non-destructive qualitative or semi quantitative determination. Laser, acoustic emission, eddy current, ultrasonic and other methods can be used for non-destructive testing of ores.
Many times, the grade detected by ore detection can determine the value of the ore, but the composition of vein stones and the amount of harmful impurities in the effective components of the ore can also affect the value of the ore. All of these need to be confirmed through ore testing. China is a major producer of minerals, with gold, coal, iron, non-ferrous metal, and rare earth minerals scattered throughout the countryOre grade testerAdequate testing of ores is necessary to utilize them, reduce waste caused by mining and production, and ensure the sustainable development of mineral resources.
