ROHS2.0 Implementation Date
Date: 2018-09-14Read: 1

followWith the rapid exponential growth of electronic and electrical equipment, a large amount of electronic waste has also increased rapidly. In order to control the pollution of the ecological environment caused by electronic and electrical waste, relevant laws and regulations have been promulgated in different regions to control it. Among them, the EU Directive RoHS 2.0 on the restriction of 10 categories of hazardous substances in motor and electronic products requires that from July 22, 2019, all electronic and electrical products exported to Europe (except medical and monitoring equipment) must meet this restriction requirement.

RoHS is an environmental certification for products and materials entering the EU market. This directive is a mandatory requirement that products or materials related to this directive cannot enter the market for sale without a RoHS environmental certification. The implementation of RoHS 2.0 concerns the interests of electronic and electrical manufacturers exporting to the European Union

Implementation dates for the control of four newly added phthalates:

Considering that it takes some time for enterprises to meet the new requirements for hazardous substances, a corresponding transition period has been stipulated in (EU) 2015/863:

l) Starting from July 22, 2019, all electronic and electrical products exported to Europe (excluding medical and monitoring equipment) must meet this restriction requirement;

2) Starting from July 22, 2021, medical equipment (including extracorporeal medical equipment) and monitoring equipment (including industrial monitoring equipment) will also be included in this control scope.

In addition, for toy products belonging to the electronic and electrical category, the content of DEHP, BBP, and DBP still needs to be controlled in accordance with the requirements of Annex XVII of the REACH regulation.
