ROHS detector, electroplating coating detector, halogen detector, steel detector, stainless steel detector, metal element detector manufacturer
1. What is the RoHS directive?
Answer: The European Parliament and Council passed the RoHS Directive in January 2003, which stands for The Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous substances in Electnical and Electronic Equipment, The Directive on the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electronic and Electrical Equipment, also known as Directive 2002/95/EC, was supplemented by the European Union in 2005 through Resolution 2005/618/EC, which clearly defined the maximum values of six hazardous substances.

What do harmful substances refer to?
Answer: RoHS lists a total of six hazardous substances, including lead Pb, cadmium Cd, Hg, hexavalent chromium Cr6+, polybrominated diphenyl ether PBDE, and polybrominated biphenyl PBB.

Why does the EU issue the RoHS directive?
Answer: One is to establish technical barriers and raise product access thresholds. The other is to strengthen environmental protection and ensure sustainable development.

What is your reaction to the RoHS directive?
Answer: It can be said that countries around the world, especially developed ones, have strongly responded to the introduction of the RoHS directive and paid close attention to it. Some call it the Green Environmental Protection Directive, some call it the Technical Barrier Directive, and some call it the directive that touches the nerves of the manufacturing industry. During this period, the United States, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, and other countries have also issued similar directives. China is a major manufacturing and product exporting country, with over 70% of its total exports involving the RoHS directive. Therefore, the Chinese government attaches great importance to related issues and issued the "Management Measures for Pollution Prevention and Control of Electronic Information Products" in 2004, which is similar in content to the RoHS directive and is prepared to be implemented simultaneously with it. At the same time, various forms such as television, newspapers, and seminars are used to promote and advertise to enterprises, reminding them to pay attention to and actively respond to production and business.

What products are covered by RoHS testing?
Answer: The RoHS directive covers a wide range of products, including almost all electronic, electrical, medical, communication, toy, security information and other products. It not only includes complete products, but also includes the components, raw materials and packaging used in the production of complete machines, which is related to the entire production chain.

How to conduct RoHS testing?
Answer: Many large enterprises have already conducted research and prepared for RoHS testing, and many products have passed RoHS testing. However, there are still many small and medium-sized enterprises that are quite unfamiliar with RoHS testing, with only a vague understanding, unclear and unclear, not knowing where to start, and not knowing who to seek certification from. In fact, RoHS testing is not that mysterious. It is similar to the certifications that people are familiar with, such as CE, FCC, etc. As long as a third-party notary laboratory with corresponding qualifications and capabilities can provide similar services for enterprises, it is nothing more than sending your related products to a professional laboratory for testing and analysis. Among them, lead, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) and other six harmful substances meet the requirements of the RoHS directive. If they meet the requirements, they can obtain a RoHS compliance report and certificate. If they do not meet the requirements, they have to find alternative products that meet the requirements.

7. Six 2005/618/EC resolutions in electronic and electrical equipment. What is the limit for harmful substances?
Answer: The maximum allowable content of lead (Pb), (Hg), hexavalent chromium (Cr6+), polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) is 0.1% (1000ppm), and cadmium (Cd) is 0.01% (100ppm). This limit is the legal basis for determining whether the product complies with the RoHS directive.

8. How can you save RoHS testing costs for your entire product?
Answer: It is important to choose components and raw materials that meet the requirements of the RoHS directive, as well as the production process used. For example, purchasing components and raw materials that have obtained RoHS testing, using reflow soldering instead of traditional soldering, and using lead-free solder instead of traditional soldering. As long as the entire machine uses components that meet the requirements of the RoHS directive, conducting RoHS testing on your entire machine will naturally save time, money, and be convenient and fast. In addition, reasonable and effective splitting of certified products can also save certain costs.

When is it appropriate to conduct RoHS testing?
Answer: The mandatory implementation of the RoHS directive will be from today until July 1st next year, with only a little over six months left. Therefore, it should be said that the earlier, the better, the earlier, the more proactive, and the later, the more passive. In fact, many sensitive large enterprises have already started this work. Firstly, it is clearly stipulated that the purchased parts and raw materials must be products that have passed RoHS testing. Secondly, their entire products must undergo RoHS testing. At the same time, most domestic and foreign buyers have also made clear requirements to manufacturers that products that have not passed RoHS testing will not be ordered. Therefore, if your product is not tested early, it will lose the market and regret it in vain.

What are the hazards of not conducting RoHS testing on products?
Answer: If the product does not undergo RoHS testing, it will cause incalculable damage to the manufacturer. At that time, your product will be ignored and lose the market. If your product is lucky enough to enter the other party's market, once discovered, it will face fines or even criminal detention.

How to split and classify RoHS testing products?
Answer: According to the requirements of the RoHS directive, how to scientifically and reasonably divide and classify the entire product to reduce testing costs is also a major challenge. It is usually mainly divided into metal materials, plastic materials, and other materials. Metal materials only need to undergo heavy metal testing (lead, cadmium, hexavalent chromium), plastic materials need to undergo the six specified items (lead, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, polybrominated diphenyl ethers), and other materials only need to undergo heavy metal testing.

How to provide RoHS test samples?
Answer: Before submitting products for inspection, manufacturers should carefully separate and package the products themselves, and label each package with the product name and number. In principle, the weight required for testing each component is 10-20 grams for solids and 10-20 milligrams for liquids.
