The key role of torque sensors in motor testing and control systems
Date: 2025-10-22Read: 12
As a core component in motor testing and control systems, torque sensors play an irreplaceable role in ensuring motor performance and improving system stability.
During the motor testing phase, torque sensors are a key tool for accurately evaluating motor performance. It can accurately measure the output torque of the motor under different working conditions, and with the help of a speed measurement device, it can comprehensively calculate the core parameters of the motor such as power and efficiency. For example, in motor type testing, data obtained through torque sensors can accurately determine whether the motor has reached the torque output capacity required by the design, verify whether it can operate stably under rated load, and provide reliable basis for motor quality certification and performance optimization.
In motor control systems, torque sensors are an important component for achieving closed-loop control. It provides real-time feedback on the current output torque information of the motor, and the control system compares the preset target torque with the actual feedback value. By adjusting parameters such as current and voltage of the motor, it precisely controls the output torque of the motor. In situations where precise torque control is required, such as spindle drive in CNC machine tools, joint drive in robots, etc., torque sensors ensure that the motor can output accurate torque according to instructions, ensuring machining accuracy and motion accuracy.
In addition, the torque sensor also has fault diagnosis function. When abnormal torque fluctuations occur during the operation of the motor, sensors can promptly capture these changes and provide feedback to the control system, indicating possible faults such as motor winding short circuits, mechanical transmission component jamming, etc. This facilitates timely measures for maintenance and avoids equipment damage caused by the expansion of faults.
The torque sensor, with its high-precision measurement capability, real-time feedback function, and fault diagnosis function, has become a key component in motor testing and control systems, which is of great significance for improving the performance and reliability of motors.
