How to configure a suitable wire aging test box according to testing requirements
Date: 2025-11-19Read: 1
The wire aging test box is the core equipment for evaluating the heat resistance performance of materials, and its configuration needs to be closely centered around the testing requirements. If not configured properly, it may result in distorted test results or waste of device resources. Below, we will analyze how to scientifically configure a test chamber from four dimensions: temperature range, sample capacity, environmental simulation, and safety control.
1、 Clear temperature range: matching material characteristics
The heat resistance limits of different materials vary significantly, and the upper temperature limit should be determined based on the characteristics of the test object when configuring. For example:
Conventional cables (such as PVC insulation layer): The heat-resistant temperature is usually ≤ 105 ℃. Equipment with a temperature range of 40 ℃ -150 ℃ can meet the requirements;
High temperature cables (such as silicone rubber insulation layer): with a heat resistance temperature of over 200 ℃, equipment with a temperature range of 40 ℃ -250 ℃ should be selected;
Special materials (such as fluoroplastics): can withstand temperatures exceeding 300 ℃ and require customized high-temperature test chambers.
Key point: The temperature range should cover the highest temperature of the actual usage environment of the material, and leave a margin of 20% -30% to avoid performance degradation caused by long-term full load operation of the equipment.
2、 Determine sample capacity: balance efficiency and uniformity
The quantity and size of samples directly affect the volume selection of the test chamber. When configuring, follow the "33% principle":
The total volume of the sample shall not exceed one-third of the working chamber volume, ensuring sufficient airflow circulation and meeting temperature uniformity standards;
The sample size should match the internal structure of the box, avoiding close contact with the box wall or blocking the air inlet. For example, when testing a cable with a length of 1.2m, the depth of the working chamber should be ≥ 1.5m;
Batch testing requirements: If multiple sets of samples need to be tested simultaneously, a multi-layer shelf design can be chosen to improve space utilization.
Case: A laboratory needs to test 50 standard cables (each with a length of 1m and a diameter of 10mm). According to the "33% principle" calculation, the studio volume needs to be ≥ 50 × (π × 0.005 ㎡× 1) ÷ 0.3 ≈ 0.13m ³ (i.e. 130L), so choosing a 150L equipment is more suitable.
3、 Simulated environmental conditions: close to the actual application scenario
In addition to temperature, factors such as humidity, light, and oxygen concentration in the actual usage environment may also affect the aging rate of materials. Additional features need to be selected according to the requirements during configuration:
Humidity control: If the testing environment has high humidity (such as outdoor cables), equipment with humidity adjustment function should be selected to simulate "high temperature and high humidity" conditions;
Lighting simulation: If the material is sensitive to ultraviolet radiation (such as photovoltaic cables), ultraviolet lamps need to be configured to simulate light aging;
Ventilation control: By adjusting the ventilation rate (such as 8-20 times/hour), simulate the oxidation reaction rate under different ventilation conditions.
Key point: Additional functions must be consistent with the testing standards (such as GB/T2951.12, IEC60227) to avoid functional redundancy or loss.
4、 Strengthening Security Control: Ensuring the Safety of Personnel and Equipment
The wire aging test box operates in a high-temperature environment for a long time, and safety configuration is crucial. When configuring, special attention should be paid to:
Overtemperature protection: When the temperature exceeds the set value ± 5 ℃, it will automatically shut down to prevent equipment from overheating and damage;
Leakage protection: Cut off the power supply within 0.1 seconds when the leakage current is ≤ 30mA to avoid the risk of electric shock;
Explosion proof design: If testing materials containing volatile substances (such as oil containing cables), it is necessary to choose equipment with a 304 stainless steel inner liner and explosion-proof doors;
Data recording and alarm: Configure temperature curve recording function, and alert through SMS or email in case of abnormalities for timely processing.
summary
The configuration of the wire aging test box should be guided by testing requirements and comprehensively considered from four dimensions: temperature range, sample capacity, environmental simulation, and safety control. Through scientific configuration, the accuracy and reliability of test results can be ensured, while extending the service life of equipment and reducing long-term usage costs. For example, a certain enterprise selected equipment with a temperature range of 40 ℃ -250 ℃, a volume of 300L, and humidity and lighting simulation functions based on the requirements of "high-temperature cables+batch testing+outdoor environment". The equipment successfully passed customer acceptance and reduced rework rate by 30%.
