Torque sensor, also known as torque sensor, torque sensor, etc., is a precision measuring instrument used to measure the torsional torque of various rotating or non rotating mechanical components.
The working principle of a torque sensor is based on the proportional relationship between the torsional deformation of an object and the magnitude of the torque it receives. It indirectly calculates the torque value by measuring specific physical quantities such as strain, angle difference, and changes in magnetic properties.
Principle of strain gauge bridge: Torque sensors are usually composed of elastic bodies, strain gauges, measurement circuits, and other parts. When an elastic body is subjected to torque, the strain gauges on it will deform. Strain gauges utilize the strain effect of metals, which means that the resistance value of metals changes during deformation. Strain gauges form a bridge structure, which is balanced when not subjected to torque, and the output voltage is zero; After being subjected to torque, the resistance value changes, the balance of the bridge is broken, and a voltage signal is output. After amplification, voltage/frequency conversion, and other processing, the magnitude of the torque can be calculated.
Main types
Strain gauge torque sensor: using strain electrical measurement technology, a measuring bridge is composed of strain gauges attached to an elastic shaft. The resistance value of the bridge changes due to the deformation of the elastic shaft caused by torque, and then it is converted into an electrical signal to achieve torque measurement.
Non contact torque sensor: The input shaft and output shaft are connected by a torsion bar. When the torsion bar is twisted by torque, the relative position between the keyway on the input shaft and the keyway on the output shaft changes, causing a change in the magnetic induction intensity on the keyway, which is converted into a voltage signal through a coil.
High performance wireless torque sensor: Combining the sensor with wireless communication technology, the torque electrical signal is amplified, A/D converted, and processed by a signal processing circuit controlled by a microcontroller. The data is sent through a wireless transmission module, and the receiving module decodes and displays the torque data after receiving it.
Application field
Power equipment testing: used for detecting the output torque and power of rotating power equipment such as electric motors, engines, and internal combustion engines.
In the field of industrial machinery, it can detect the torque and power of equipment such as fans, water pumps, and gearboxes, and is also suitable for torque measurement in transportation vehicles such as railway locomotives, automobiles, and ships.
Other fields: It can also be used in sewage treatment systems, manufacturing viscometers, process industries, as well as in laboratories, testing departments, and production monitoring scenarios.
